no after hours before noon

Thanks everyone. I guess I don't understand what this means.

josé ramón serra "pilot", from the san antonio town hall, was interviewed on the cadena ser radio some minutes ago and he confirmed they are not changing the opening/closing times there because its unfair for the most than 50 cafe-conciertos they have (which have to pay higher taxes, etc). he announced that if they cause problems next year they will have to open at 4.30pm too.....

---> waheyyyyy!! :p

it means that the bars with cafe-concierto license can continue opening, if they want, from 12 noon till 6am (while in the rest of the island can not open till 4.30pm)!!

yea i wanna know about the beach bars to...can Bora Bora etc play music before 4:30 or not?

and if they cant i see no need to holiday in PDB.

PDB is closer to Ibiza town... and I find easier to get out of when you want to get away in your car to all the beaches etc..

have you considered the fact that that is exactly what san jose wants to do ? ie they dont want people coming here on holiday to just spend 7 days getting off their tits at a beach bar

not you personally, obviously ;)

Depends what you mean by 'off your tits'......if you mean 4 or 5 san miguel from the shop while listening to good music in a good atmosphere then yes that's me ;)

Were see what san jose wants when there's no one left.
Seriously what as PDB got to offer other than space and Bora Bora?? is san jose going to rely on its guest's to travel to ibiza town everynight?

here's my thoughts...

first, i'd like to say i also preferred the "old" law where space and dc10 could open at 8am. but, as rumours already had been around last summer, that the government is going to change the laws, i expected a change. then i hoped they'd stick to their first version, saying clubs must keep closed between 6am and noon (well, just what they're doing in san antonio now). that, IMO, would have been a break in the 24hr-nonstop-clubbing-circle and on the other hand, partyhards would still have had the possiblity of getting real daytime sessions. but as we know now, things are different. but still, we all will get some dancing under the sun if parties start at 4:30pm (and maybe even earlier for bora bora which, according to McR's sources, might stay unaffected of this). and i am really curious to see what ideas space & dc10 will have for this new situation...

BUT - saying "ibiza is dead" just because of this is idiotic IMO...

around 20-25% of the tourists coming to ibiza are clubbers (some of them go clubbing every night while others go just 1-2 times during their stay).
i'd say max. 30% of these clubbers (i guess even fewer, surely not more) do (or used to do) afterhours. and when talking about afterhours, then i mean being at space in the morning hours and not arriving at space only on 4pm sunday afternoon!
the question now is, how many of exactly these peeps won't come anymore because there won't be any more (official) afterhours? i might be wrong, but i think the amount of people giving ibiza a miss just because of this fact will be SO small...and why? - the answer is simple: there is no "real" alternative to ibiza! where else in the world can you party every night during 4 months of the year and have such a huge variety of clubs, nights and dj's? nowhere!

i also loved being at matinée at 9am and i am sure i'll miss this quite a bit, but i don't see this as a reason not going to ibiza anymore. and, i might be wrong again, but i think the government wants to get rid of those people who now consider not coming to ibiza anymore only because there are no more afterhours...

discuss.

I agree stivi... while one of my favourite moments at space was arriving at Matinee when it opened... and dancing away the morning, I'm not going to cry too many tears.(just a little! ;)) I don't think I ever got to DC10 much before 4 anyway.

EVEN if matinee happens this year and opens at 4:30 you would still have time to hang out at a beach in the morning/ part of the afternoon and still have a good 3-4 hours dancing while its light out.... and then take off to another club, if you wish for the evening.

While I would prefer it the other way, and part of what made Matinee the way it was was that it had that 'after hours' feel and fun to it, there's nothing that can be done. about it

besides, although I always did matinee from a Friday night directly to a Saturday morning, lots of people went to matinee without being out Friday night.

I spend most of my days exploring beaches, eating out... trying to find a places thats as off the beaten track as one can find in ibiza, rather than in a club anyway.

i've had my share of 3 day + benders... while its fun... i still think of my highlights in Ibiza and a lot of those highlights have been in a dark club at about 4:00 am anyway, not day time hours.

I will miss arriving at Matinee first thing in the morning, thats it... as for DC10 and space, arriving at 4:30 isn't such a big deal.

I'm always amazed at the clubbers I meet every year who have never been to any of the beaches, or checked out the bars / restaurants in ibiza town or around the island.

While i don't make the trans-atlantic voyage every year just to go sit on a beach, the clubbing is a huge part of it, if I actually calculate how much time of my holiday is spend in clubs and how much time is spent eating, going to beaches and exploring, I spend much more time doing other things than clubbing.. and i still make it out to a club every night of the week.. might take one night off.

so, lets say I spend on average 6 hours per day or night ( if that... espcecially if its cocoon, where I'd arrive at about 2 and stay until 7:00)in a club x 10 days... thats only 60 hours out of 240 that i've spent clubbing...

so only 25 % of my time is spent clubbing anyway... and for me thats a clubbing holiday.

but yeah, I'll still miss Matinee... I wonder what's going to happen with that? is it still going on ?

i completely agree stivi

the amount of people who pass through the doors of space or dc10 in the hours that are affected pale into insignificance when you conside the amount of tourists that actually come here

the problem has always been that 5% of tourists create 95% of the bad press - ibiza can live without the 10,000 (guesstimate) who turn up and ruin the *worldwide* reputation that ibiza has

IMO this coming summer is very important as they will be looking for the changes in opening hours to have an affect on drug related incidents etc - if the % falls there tactics have worked and maybe they will see it as stopping after hours reduces casualties but they still have the best clubbng scene in the world. Dost matter what way you look at it, Ibiza is famous for its clubs and quality of DJ's - if they can create a fair balance between that and attract other types of tourism things will look good for the future clubbing and non clubbing!

what about if i wanna do a party in my house with my friends but not an after party! when i do that, i always invite the neighboors, never show up, but they dont call the police nor complain...can i still do a party?
