Do they have the sexy dancers during the day or more during the night? I was always at either Bora Bora or Salinas during the day so I don't remember.

how many times does it have to be said ?

bora bora is a beach bar/restaurant its NOT A CLUB!! ;)

it doesnt even have an "inside" - other than the loos
Actually, Bora Bora does have an "inside". That shiny blue glass building in the back (sort of pyramid like) which they open up once the outdoor part closes down at night.

But, as Mackie's told us, that's considered a separate venue to the beach bar/restaurant.

bora bora opening at 4:30 is no big deal... its not really happening much before then anyway.
Again, it's not a matter of when they open... it's just when the volume gets turned up louder And the big Mac seems to think it won't be affected.

It always seemed to me to get louder between 3 and 4 but McRackin says it's actually closer to 1...

i'm going to give up having an opinion on what happens here - i'll leave it to the other 100,000 people who live here and see what happens :)

oh - i see thats whats happening ;)

for anyone has an opinion on how our island politics should work and how this island should run itself i would suggest you get off your arse and come and live here and then bitch and moan to local politicians etc and try and do something

i'd give a link to a local magazine that does just that but el ste wont let me :)

and this article confuses things even more lol

:S:S:S is it?

That blog is talking about a thread here

http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?p=1189461#post1189461

which says this " the consell wants the clubs to close 10 hours and a half, but encourage them to open from may to october"

and

it will force these venues to close from 6am till 4.30pm

It has been changed now though so its more accurate

It will be a big shame if the clubs are forced to shut till 4.30pm.
I cant see what harm it cause's being open from 12 onwards.

Personally, i think the clubs still hold all the power here anyway.
The local council / government are trying to encourage the clubs to extend the season by a week or so at either end so that the flight operators will charter more flights thus bringing more tourists to ibiza.

If the clubs agree to open earlier and close later it will have a positive effect on the ibiza tourism industry and will bring in lots of extra cash for the island.

But if i was a club owner, i'd say i will agree to open earlier and close later if i can open at 12 each day.
By not opening for them extra weeks the government stand to lose a hell of a lot more than the clubs stand to gain.

This is surely a good bargaining tool??

Let's hope the owner of Space tries his luck with this approach, maybe that way it will force a comprimise by both parties and the clubs can open earlier than 4.30.

but none of this really impacts on space.

1) space already open and close within the periods the consell insular want clubs to open to and from.
2) as a proportion of total hours space is open, the period from 6am-4.30 pm is less than half.
3) as a proportion of attendees/income/revenue/profits, the 6am-4.30pm period will be significantly less than half, probably more like a quarter (if that!)
4) As a consequence, i don't think Pepe will care if they can't open before 4.30 or 6pm!
5) Pepe has already shown his willingness to comply with the powers that be listening to them before, during and after the furore around the closures last June. So therefore, don't expect any radical action from him and link this to the matutes factor and future of space!!

Errrr, WHAT??!! One of the best soundsystems in the world coupled with amazing lights etc, the word average simply cannot be applied here!

It's got nothing that really differentiates it from any number of clubs I've visited in the past (loads of clubs have good soundsystems and lights) - the thing that really sold Space to me was it as a daytime venue.

Daytime boogying is where it's at in Ibiza for me. I'm most upset it's under threat, and also a little bit angry to be honest. I don't mind the clubs being closed in the morning, but to not let them open until 4.30 just seems unreasonable.

The chance to party in the sun after a grey, cold and wet northern European endless winter is one of my favourite things about Ibiza.

Fair enough. I'm one of those lazy buggers who tends to club all night then sleep all day, so I haven't experienced a massive amount of daytime clubbing. I did enjoy Circo Loco though, and the Terrace at Space is pretty great, but i'm definitely more of a night owl. That's obviously just me though...

Space, at night as a venue, is just a pretty average club :?

every other "joe average-"town has a good (function one or whatever) soundsystem
with amazing (laserstuff-)lights" nowadays,
and all the well known djs come and play there sooner or later -
so thats nothing what makes space special in any way.
and the inside of space is nothing special at all.
i always get a depression when the sunsetterrace has to close down at midnight
and everybody has to go "inside",
especially the main hall (= discoteka) is a very cold, ugly and agressive place :-(
but ok - that´s a matter of taste ...

.. but yes - there sometimes are amazing lights @ space:

You make a fair point i guess, in the overall terms of space's proifts it wont make a large dent.
But surely as part of owing a business you want to give the customers what they want...

and in the overall long term, it will have a huge impact on space (and all the clubs) if these new laws deter people from coming to ibiza in the first place. A big part of many clubbers holidays (definitely mine) is the ability to party in the day at space, dc10 and bora bora. it gives something different than anywhere else in europe.
its what defines it almost for me.

i could go to other places which have great clubs, barcelona, miami etc etc and it would cost me less overall than going to ibiza for 2 weeks.

but no where else (that im aware of) can you be part of such a special atmosphere in the day time.
where else can you go to a beach for a mid afternoon drink and find 100's of people dancing in the sun to quality loud music!
or go to one of the worlds best clubs to find it already kicking off in there at 3pm.

if the new law does get passed and clubs werent able to open till 6pm for example i would think about not going again

i wouldnt care if it was 2pm. But 4.30pm is a bit late and 6pm is ridiculous.

my prayers are with a 12pm opening lol so far we have a 12pm opening, 4pm opening, 4.30pm opening and 6pm opening....lets face it no one has a clue wtf is going on what's going to happen! and when they do pass a law they will change it the week after casuing more panic!!

I betting on 4.30pm 10/1 :lol::lol::lol:

Alternative Regulations

The Consell Insular are trying to push through tougher new laws
which could mean the big clubs on the island having to close for up to 10½ hours a day.

The moves which were discussed on Monday between the Consell and the five mayors
on the island will try to ensure all of the clubs on the island
are closed between 6a.m. and 4.30p.m.

There will be two exceptions to this rule
and that will be the opening and closing parties,
in which the clubs will be able to stay open until 12noon.

This will be on condition the
opening party takes place between 25th May and the 5th June and the
closing party between 1st and the 15th October.
This is part of an attempt by the Consell to convince the clubs to stay open
slightly longer in the future to try and increase the length of the season.

The new moves surprised some, one of those being the mayor of San Antonio, Jose Sala. He said he saw complications in carrying out the new regulations.
He pointed out there were at least 30 businesses within his municipality which had
café-concierto licences, which meant they would also have to abide
by the same opening hours.
He said measures had been discussed previously and an agreement had been reached which ensured any premises with this type of licence would have to close
between 6a.m. and 12p.m.
The new regulations were passed last year, and have been copied by the Town Hall
of San Jose who confirmed in January they would follow the same blueprint
as their neighbour.

Sala added that many bars and pubs which regularly opened during the afternoon
to show football and rugby games would now no longer be allowed to do so.

However, he said the new legislation was a long way off being approved
and urged people not to worry for the moment
