J-Lo going all eurodancy!

wow i have never even heard of any of the above, i really do live in a shallow music cacoon world  but hey atleast i can admit it lol

Seen her live twice, the first time when she and her band still dressed as Amazons (or whatever) and came on stage with all sorts of weird instruments or things that could be used as instruments.

The next time was a lot bigger and more professional. School of Seven Bells in support too, but we sadly managed to miss some of them. I'd definitely see Bat for Lashes again when she brings a new album out.

My sister introduced me to her a good 3 or 4 years ago - my sister seems to like most "now popular" artists at least 5 years before they are famous (KOL, Florence) whereas I jump on the bandwagon much later

agree with johnny vodka about the scandinavians - they never seem to have that repellent arrogance that the mainstream american rnb stars and their British clones have - annie was tipped to cross over but she was probably too 'natural' for the record companies

the kind of women I like:

camille from nouvelle vague (saw her at the big chill - trully wonderful)

au revoir simone eg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fqsuii1h6AI

nina persson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QARVQwhzQj4&feature=fvst

kathy diamond http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20t7s_lA1vU&feature=fvst

danielle moore from crazy p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsq3iNW60us

sally shapiro (prob known to those of you into italodisco)

miss kittin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Fo0iutOzsQ

obviously grace jones , roisin murphy & yukimi from little dragon as mentioned

big euro presence on that list but then I've always been a sucker for dreamy, spacey tunes with slightly quirky females on there

some of the chart abominations mentioned on this thread don't even compare

Love the video to Whats A Girl To Do - simple but effective

check out The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, the lead singer has a great voice, very quirky. 8)

Anyone who loves soul should check out Joy Rose, Vanessa Haynes, Maysa Leak and Imani too.

They've all worked with Incognito at some point and hearing them live is something else.

Best live album ever...

As for the poor decision making, definately, i mean she married russell brand - FAIL
Exactly what I was referring too :)

I like La Roux as well.

As for recent female singers of musical import - check out Janelle Monae :!:

Probably the most original sound coming out of the US in ages. Just got turned on to her. Interesting person and approach to her music too.

She'll inevitably get lumped in with r&b due to her label (P Diddy's Bad Boy) and friends (Outkast) but I think she's something different.

Talking of RnB who is this Nicki Minaj? She seems to be on everything at the moment and I havent a clue who she is. Apart from she has a big butt.

Did Miss Kittin do much good after I Com? I kind of lost her after that point, though did see her do a live show at the Arches a couple of years back as part of a club night. (I was a bit  at the time.) I love Through the Backyards, but haven't listened to much Au Revoir Simone beyond that (despite having an album in the house). Have you heard the Aeroplane mix of Friendly Fire's Paris, with their vocals pushed to the front? Stunning track, as good as the original in its own way. I'd also guess you'd like Husky Rescue if you don't already know them. I always describe them to people as The Cardigans meets Air - they've never really taken off here.

I see her in all the mags with different clothes and that and think who is she?!

I was just listening to it for the first time myself (had previously heard 2 singles and listened to some of it at a friend's place). Really liking it.

I'll need to give it a go on Spotify - doesn't sound like the kind of thing I'd automatically go for, but sometimes those can be the best.
