Can someone explain in a brief paragraph, what is happening in Ibiza in relation to the "Class War"?

Ive got a general idea, but I don't read Spanish.

You can read all those links through Google translate, it's not perfect but you can get the general idea. And if it doesn't make sense @stivi and @McRackin will always help, out.

Almost everywhere I go in the world today it's the same story: the rental property owners are pretty much the sole beneficiaries of upturns in tourism or the economy. Rents are increased to what is possible & not what's reasonable - it's sad for all the workers who actually keep the wheels of the economy turning, but it's reality. It would be great if there was an easy answer, but I don't know where it's gonna come from. With Ibiza's water shortage, this problem is only going to accelerate.

if the government is strict enough, it's easily doable. limit rental properties, do lots of controls, make them pay hefty fines if they infringe. when you suddenly hear that three of your neighbours were fined 40K (or more), you'll start to think about it.

not sure you've read the whole thread, here the situation is such extreme that a lot of season workers are simply not returning this year because they are aware that with a regular job and such high rent, at the end of the season you haven't actually saved anything. if you have your place to live you can currently choose between jobs like never before.

... yeah, for plenty of summer jobs they now ask you if you have a place to stay or directly if you're a ressie!

it's definitely becoming more and more a rich mans paradise! Hence the way massive increase in VIP over the years, the island has changed!

^^ i wonder if you had read the previous 147 messages before posting yours... this thread is not about VIPs!
