ibiza gossip 2025

Also not true he hasn't been playing in Ibiza for the last 9 years, what about that short-lived mini residence at DC10 a few years back?

I haven’t said anything in that comment that’s related to him supposedly not playing in Ibiza for 9 years.

Firstly all the caveats that nothing is officially announced, there is obviously speculation that Paradise is moving to UNVRS.

If it’s true, I do agree that it’s the one that I just don’t get at all. I’m sure they will make it work, but I just have a weird feeling about this one.

When all the other UNVRS nights are announced, I don’t think anyone will disagree with them - they all make sense. But Paradise, just not so sure. But just a personal view.
It is. I read it was going to Hi but that didn’t turn out to be true

did he actually say he hasn't played ibiza for 9 years? I don't think so.

No, I can not find this either. But read a few people say he has been off the island for a long time.

He played a lot 2017. 18. 19 and 2022 residency at DC10 in 2022!

Can I ask a question here, and I am not trying to just start an argument.

But, why when Carl Cox played Privilege (for Resistance) 2017/18/19 for 8,000+ people - why was that not selling out and destroying the soul of Ibiza? Checking back on my emails, I paid €50 for Resistance in 2017.

Although I do kinda see this point for me it’s more the issue with supporting TNL and what they stand for than the venue itself - the push towards VIP culture and characterless clubs at Ushuaia and Hï and everything that goes with it - the form of which Coxy has been quite vocal against in the past!

I understand as anyone does that £££ talks and perhaps it’s the old romantic in me thinking that the real old school DJ’s - particularly ones who are extremely wealthy already - would want to make a point of standing against TNL and would support venues like Amnesia who are clearly going to have a tough season up against the TNL monopoly.

The one thing I would say though is it’s good to see Coxy back - just a shame it’s not at Amnesia!

Ok, reading his comment again I misinterpreted what he meant by "...taken me 9 years to make this decision" my bad and apologies but nothing takes from the fact that is backtracking on his words. I'll be very curious what's Pepe Rosello take is on all this matter, not that Cox has to do what Pepe says.

I mean I could probably list 100 things that I said 10 years ago that I have back-tracked on. These guys are only human too!

We complained that privilege was sitting empty and now complain that it's been turned into a 'hyperclub'

I'm not a fan of ushuauai or hi or much the 'commercial' way ibiza has went but I'm glad and excited to see what unvrs will become. Even if I probably won't be at it.

I do worry for amnesia though.

I do find cox previous comments amusing now that he is signed with unvrs but I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I'm probably going to get crucified by this but I'm going to say it anyway, is Carl Cox still that relevant in the current Ibiza scene? Ten years is a long time in this industry, how many of the new generation of clubbers do know about him? Was his mini residency at DC10 successful?
I'm talking strictly about his DJ persona so please nothing to do that he's a nice guy, charitable etc .etc.. as it's not really being nice that sell tickets.

I agree with this. I think a lot of us see Coxy as "oldguard" and see his booking at Space & Priv and DC 10 almost as him not aligning with the newer establishment

I am sure its all to do with money, However.. There is also the possibility that Carl Cox has seen the plans and genuinely wants to get behind UNVRS as a club? Ownership aside

Regardless, should make attending Solomun a bit easier :)

Not sure if was in the running for any residencies but seen an article with Martin Garrix saying he is planning to tour less and focus on making music this year
