ibiza gossip 2025

The capacity of Univers has been officially announced?

Don't think so, seen estimates of anywhere between 8k and 15k, can see it more towards the lower end of that, health and safety rules are more stringent than when KU got designed. As discussed be interesting to see if they have two rooms or a way of making the main room smaller.

If I were a betting man I'd say less than 10k and only one 'real', programmed dancefloor. I'm sure they'll do the fancy disco toilets again though and they will certainly have DJs in there and maybe elsewhere too, but I would say all of that will be done by resident DJs and maybe sometimes some surprise acts. but I truly believe it will be about one real dancefloor and artist mainly.

I might be completely off with that though.

Carl Cox closing party at space 2008 was one of the best nights I’ve ever been to. There’s a video on YouTube of him playing Knights of the Jaguar with others at the decks like Loco Dice, when that tune drops the crowd jumps up and goes wild. Such an incredible moment.

It will be a real mixed age group at the Cox night imo...The younger crowd (20-30) know about the legacy and will want to see him for themselves the older crowd for nostalgia..im always taken a back (in a good way) by how many of the younger crowd go to The Hacienda nights at WHP...Cox at Unvrs may be a similar mix and it might work well, hopefully. Still id sooner it was over the rd!

it's very complicated to speak badly of Carl, even impossible, if you had to give an image of the techno scene since the beginning I would put carl, it's 3 turntables playing hours and hours with an incredible smile, sweaty and happy, a joy how did it start, end of the 80s, in 2,3 european countries, when you grew up in belgium, where you have clubs every 10km and where you are 30min from germany and holland, at 15 we partied every weekend, there were always 5 dj, carl cox, sven vath, laurent garnier, dave clarke and richie hawtin + the hundreds of residents, those guys are the reason why 20 years later we are still here!
the reaction of the old clubbers on the networks has never been so great, it's nice to see carl back on the island, oh yes oh yes🥳

personally I can't see them doing daytime events, they already have ushuaïa for that, IMO it wouldn't make any sense at all. as for building progress, from the outside it looks 'sturdier' now, more of actual proper walls on the building. haven't been very close though, it's just what I've seen from the main road the other day.

personally I don't think it's a nationalities question, but rather an age bracket one in this case. even though coxy might not be 'flavour of the day' for the youngsters, we mustn't forget he still is a big name internationally and especially for clubbers above 35 or so. and we all know that if there is one place in the world where people still go clubbing in their 40 and 50s...it is ibiza.

apart from the odd situation for coxy himself (because the way I see it he really didn't speak well about TNL generally when space closed and thus he definitely has shifted opinions during the past almost 10 years), I have to say it's a genius stroke from team TNL.

I'll tell you why, and you will all understand once the full weekly UNVRS line up is out. sundays is the only night I'm personally tempted to go. for me as a nearly 45yr old clubber, all other residencies they've got lined up, I could not be arsed to attend any of them. and I just know that a lot of 'older' clubbers will feel the same about that and say, 'ah well, it's coxy and like that we'll get to see what they've done to privilege, let's go on a sunday'.
At nearly 48yrs old, you are spot on.. Coxy Rocks still in my world. See him, see the refurb. 2 stones one club 😉. See you Sunday
