two parties on the island (shine and armin) cover the current demand for trance

How is that demand out of curiosity? Trance was my gateway into electronic music many years ago, always keen to hear if that scene is still alive and kicking.

not very big. it is alive and the trance lovers are both very loyal and vocal. I‘m sure shine will do well this year, they‘ll build on last season. armin will do OK too and with that I think it‘s the right amount.

Its a stretch to call armin party a trance night. A couple of classics amongst edm dirge in a night doesn’t make a night imo.

as I said above, I know it isn‘t. but as also said, the broad public still sees him as a trance DJ and he does have trance playing guests. I am totally aware it isn‘t a real trance night

Same old cannon fodder year after year.. being told whats hot and whats not by brands, logos and hottest world wide party's.. twat house, tech house, papa sven solly.and.his afterparty shenanigans at villla costa lota...even the young folks aren't falling for this anymore.. gonna be a tough year again...nothing gonna.change soon..

Come down craig? ;)

@craig72 you sound bitter and old but you have a point- ppl aren't as easily swayed by the "magic" of Ibiza and are choosing other destinations (if at all) instead. Hotel prices are just too ridiculous for what you get, there isn't a lot of value. Although I'm seeing okay deals now, the old Playsol hotels are more expensive than what it was before the renos.

I'm blaming the slow and steady clampdown by the government on partying and closing times and young ppls shifting attitudes towards not going out in general that much, as well. But I mean, where else are you going to see parties with major DJs sustained over 4 or 5 months in the world in a quasi tropical setting?

I think all that is a bit scurrilous. He was ill. He let people know on the day that he wouldn’t be there. I’m not aware he has a rep for no shows at all. His night at hi was heaving so I don’t think he or hi will have been at all bothered with the competition, so much so they continued for a second year.
He did this 3 times in one summer in the Netherlands and Belgium. He definitely has a rep for no shows. I enjoyed Prydz on Tuesday in Hi once. It was way too crowded though, but that's not his fault.

As soon as Pacha get rid of those white tiles on the dancefloor... you’re be back in there ;)

Well I don’t know about that and if he did it three times in a row the chances are he was ill. He’s my wife’s fav dj, I like a lot of his stuff too and his rep looks solid to me. But, there are plenty of no show djs around still, take a bow my fav dj, Sasha. He’s been going awol in all the 24 years I’ve been going to hear him. It’s infuriating.

We did finally manage to pin down Sasha for an afternoon session last May, strict instructions not to give him any beer etc. because of his tendency to go off on one.

I doubt that - the booking schedule of solomun is so enormous, don't think he will block Fridays for Ibiza exclusivly

That would wipe Saturdays off his schedule too given that he's not renowned for being tucked up in bed with a nice book by 7.30am after the gig.

Really? I'm a little surprised to hear that I wouldn't of imagined him like that.

You have to be kidding? Sasha is the most prolific no show of them all in my experience. It’s been happening for three decades now. At least he had the decency to cancel his December classical concerts four weeks in advance this time. His inability to get his shit together is very frustrating for his fans though. He must be a bloody nightmare to work with. I don’t think alcohol is the issue though.

The djs are all touring now more than ever before, all the brands are doing events elsewhere circo loco, cocoon, afterlife, music on (2 day event in Amsterdam) more festivals, sonus, DGTL,

same djs different countries, cities,

Ibiza really needs to pull there finger if they want to compete

Even I am having a break from Ibiza this year! Well start of the year anyway... May go closings see how I feel
