Ibiza 2022 impressions

I did 6 nights early June and have 11 nights booked end Sep into Oct. I try and book the flights to avoid the weekends if possible but flying out Sat lunch was ok last time. Everything seemed a nice level of busy. On sunset strip the hostess at Mint aid it felt like August and not early June. The sea was warm as mentioned, can't wait to see what it's line at the end of September!

I was over late May to mid-June and agree with all of this. Usually late May (the previous IMS dates) can be pretty mixed weather wise and cool in the evening but it felt like August. Nice levels of busy and a great buzz across the island.

Hoping to return mid-September!

The heat is outstanding. Makes no fun at the beach now for me. Sleeping in the room and go to the beach later. The sun is a little dangerous for a bright skin type.
tell me about it, i've been here 30 years and still no tan 🤣
swims at sunset are just magical right now though. the water is so warm, no crowds, beautiful pastel skies - and long siestas beforehand ;)

Today the same.

Had a little training at the morning, everything fine. A little relaxing after this. Then a coffee at Amante. Waitress came and ask if everything is ok : T Shirt totally wet. Didnt realise it. Brought a water and a Coffee. Everything went better , but lost a lot of liquid. Needed a big bottle of water. Sleeping in the room and everything is ok now. I think October or September is better for me. Strange : Bali is one step higher than this.90 Percent Humidity and the same temp . Never problems there. Its a case for the when are you to old thread maybe.

Its a question of the weight maybe : 8kg too much and the fun starts.
Sometimes one has to learn in the hard way ...

Ibiza Town 2017 vs 2022= seems a lot quieter nowadays! Already by Midnight the streets are getting empty now and terraces quiet even in Calle de Virgen. The same feeling both Thursday and Sunday. Where are all the people? The traffic is pretty packed and jammed all over the island, so are people just avoiding Eivissa nowadays?

Potentially more drinking on the Hotel balcony/Airbnb/villa? Due to the cost of living?

First went Mambo in 2003 and I’ve always gone back. For a few years for getting smashing and seeing my favourite DJs to in recent Years just having a strawberry daiquiri and enjoying the view

Few days ago me and the mrs pop in for a 4pm cocktail on way down to the Golden Buddha, place is quiet so go to sit at a table, told it’s for food only, nobody was eating and all tables empty

So ushered round to the side on the road and the high chairs which my mrs hates and it’s 40 euros for 2 cocktails

I remember it when it was different obviously, but f*** me the prices and whole setup has changed

Something like this would make me never go back.

Dunno about Mambo but last year at cdm we had a table right at the front for sunset. €250 euro minimum spend (between 4 of us) we ended up sitting there for a good 4 hours to get the bill up to €250 so was definitely worth it in the context of popping in somewhere and getting 2 drinks for €40:lol:

We reserved at CDM last year. Came in about a tenner below the minimum spend and they didn’t bother. They’ve put it at €65 for my September reservation. Not grumbling at that.

One thing that we observed was that there was less security at Mambo's than usual. Nobody trying to stop you drinking on the wooden steps, or from going down on the rocks with your own drinks. I thought this was quite a refreshing post-pandemic change, either they have cut back on paying for the security, or they have realised it doesn't actually make any difference to the money they can make on tables.

This was one of a couple of things that made me feel like some of the original ibiza spirit was back...also the club parades on the beach and around Ibiza town...also something that they tried to stop a couple of years ago...

Seems I forgot to write down my May visit.

Spent 3 days in Ibiza on May 23-26. A flight to Ibiza usually involves spending a few hours in a sardine can, but my flight was very different. I booked with Condor (a German holiday airline) and discovered during check in that an Airbus 330 would be serving the route, a long haul airplane Condor sometimes uses on intra-Europe flights for crew training. So I asked for a business class upgrade at the airport and got a huge business class seat all to myself, with plenty of space, no seat neighbors, converting to a full flat bed. There is nothing like making the seat horizontal and dozing off right after takeoff and being gently awakened by the flight attendant for a prosecco breakfast an hour and a half later. This flight ended way too soon :)

I arrived in the morning and spent the first day at Cala San Vicente. It was a very hot and sunny day, but the crystal clear water felt so cold that I started recalling the final scenes of the movie Titanic. The sea got a little warmer in the afternoon. Went up to Punta Grossa for views, and to the Boat House for lunch and for an evening drink (review). Should have went to Circo Loco, but realized I had absolutely no desire to go anywhere, so just went to bed instead. Stayed at Grupotel Cala San Vicente (served its purpose, but nothing to write home about).

Moved to hotel Orosol in SanAn for the remaining two nights. Spent the next day at Salinas, chilled in the sun, listened to the music at Sa Trinxa and had drinks there, walked to the pirate watch tower. Went to Cami de Balafia to eat lamb in the evening (amazing - review).

Went to Ibiza town at night. There were surprisingly few luxury yachts, but there was an unexpected visitor - a giant training sail ship belonging to the Oman navy. I suppose the only navy in the world where the cadets get to visit Ibiza on training missions :)

The last day was gray and rainy. Drove to Puertas del Cielo through the beautiful landscape in the northwest of the island. I must have confused Puertas del Cielo with something else - I expected an art installation consisting of several rectangular arches in a row, but it was just a cliff with a terrific view. Spent the rest of the day in Ibiza town, visited the modern art museum and also visited Museo Puget at the very top. Museo Puget is amazing - it is located in a beautiful villa and hosts paintings of Ibiza's past by two local painters. And from its windows, you get to see parts of Dalt Vila you can not see from any other public vantage point. Highly recommended.

I watched the sunset from the sunset strip in SanAn and saw what I think were mountains on the Spanish continent for the first time ever. And that was it for this visit.

I loved Ibiza in late May! It's already quite hot on sunny days, but the water is still refreshing. I fully expected to do lots of clubbing on my first visit post-Covid, but the only party suitable for my tastes that early in the season was Circo Loco, and I simply didn't have the mood to go there. Partying will wait until September.

Photos are in the photo thread.
