What a thicko I am.. I thought the laptop djs still mixed some how haha
BrilliantHope he laid off the baked beans before pulling that stunt
On your sync button point, you don't even need to press it, on laptop and cdjs the bpm is there to see even to 2 decimal places so you simply cannot go wrong. And re the point about creativity and DJs I have to say I disagree. It all sounds a bit cliched but I think it does take creativity to know and select the right tracks to suit the mood/venue/event and be able to build a musical ‘journey’ etc. Not to mention the technical skills that a few (not all admittedly) have whether it’s still on vinyl, mixing multiple digital tunes at once, various bits of specialised hardware etc.
The top guys and girls really are skillfull there’s no doubt about it, so the adulation they get from fans is as justified as it is of any other type of musician for me. As someone points out above they are the rockstars of my (18-30s) generation.
Come on, a lot of 'superstar DJs' don't even mix live...
Could start from the top and ban said DJ’s from filming videos that are plastered all over their Instagram.Put a sticker over people's phones as they do in Berghain and De School? Appreciate they can't take phones off people at the entrance, as they used to do with cameras in Ibiza back in the day, but the stickers and posters around saying 'no filming / photography' would be a start.
So many DJs highlight it as a pet hate of theirs in interviews and you can see it puts them on edge having a sea of phones thrust in their face.

This!To be fair a little bit of filming is not the worse phone related crime ... at Pacha there were people pushing their way to prime dancing location and then proceeding to stand looking at WhatsApp with a screen brightness like the sun ... now that is a vibe killer
Brilliant
If you guys think DJs simply mix other people’s music, you’re pretty far off the mark here
