Booked from October 1st to the 8th, will extend if the weekend moves back. Flights were £80 return. .....

By Summer, September flights from BHX or BRS are above £250-£300 if you want to arrive any time there's a car hire desk open - cost me over £250 one way to get home early even to a London airport last October and

The bulk of my Ibiza budget nowadays is aimed at boats, car, watersports etc.. the costs of which very easily run into the thousands not the hundreds overall. Paying an arm and a leg for flights and hotels just makes other places much better value overall because Ibiza ain't cheap for water-based activities either unless you work very hard at getting things heavily discounted.

Depends what you hire and how far you go in it, dunnit ! Realistically, decently powered sports boat or large Rigid Inflatable which can go virtually anywhere with captain & fuel is 500-1200 Euros upwards from mid-morning until pre-sunset when they usually want to hire it out again for last few hours of daylight into post-sunset *. Prices hike in July/August like everything else. Better ones have on-board soundsystems you can plug ipod into, to spare irritation of nearby boats blasting David Guetta into the peaceful afternoon air, but I personally like to get away from anything but the lapping of the waves unless (sometimes) when motoring.

* : Fits me and up to 1-2 good mates with plenty of room for toys/gear and everyone to stretch out - or about 10-12 Italians / Stag-Hen Partygoers crammed into every available nook and cranny :confused: :lol:.

Really big powerboats / smaller motoryachts with cabins are already into the low thousands a day and many burn a LOT of fuel. Often you can't get very near to many beaches (water being too shallow) so more restrictive for mooring up - then you need a SECOND small inflatable boat on the big boat to take you into shore and back (or phone for collection by a restaurant in theirs) - that is unless you like risking life & limb swimming to shore through waters full of other boats moving around you, many of them driven by people without the slightest clue about safety !

I'm happy to drive smaller boats myself and have a permit (up to 10m length) but most places in Ibiza won't let you take even small powerboats boats out yourself on a 1/2 or full day hire & want you to take a captain. That adds about 100-150 Euros to basic hire cost before tips. In fairness it takes the pressure off so everyone can relax - also someone to drive if you fancy a ski/board. Plus you don't have to have hundreds/thousands of euros in damage deposit money to put down over and above the hire cost !!

(Really) small self-drive motorboats to tootle from San An to Cala Gracio (or on a calm day Cala Conta) and back are about 160 late morning to mid afternoon or 280 including sunset time. They're usually booked up well ahead in Season.

I'd pay good money for the novelty of hanging around Gaffney for the day...so long as he was sufficiently "off his chops" to deal with all the well 'ard jokes and not develop an attitude.
