Getting to/from Ibiza latest info

Even if everything else fell into place, vax cert, test there, test back - there's still the bollox of being found positive over there and then the quarantine; locked up somewhere and no-one to assist, don't even know if a hotel would be provided for you (and what cost?) and what's provided for you.

So basically it's over and out.

What I'm now waiting for, as alluded to before, is a way to use the PCR as a 72-hour "pass", maybe to get to Belgium or Holland for a couple of nights via Eurostar, that 72 hour test before I even set off so it's valid for the duration (no quarantine worries over there - if it's positive I don't go and self-isolate at home).

Not sure exactly what's opened up though, indeed if "non-essential travel" is allowed yet?? Last I read NL was still under certain lockdown restrictions (anyone??) but I'm hoping maybe Sept/October there's a chance? (EDIT; looking at the government's advice to those countries quarantine is still mandatory so I suppose I'm being overly optimistic)

Meanwhile I'm still keeping my October Ibiza booking alive just in case they reduce the need for testing (I doubt it) to free movement if innoculated, nothing else.

Basically you need Spain / Ibiza to be on the green list
Don't think that will help as tests will still be required over there to get back (even the vaxxed). Happy to be corrected of course! maybe there will, one day, be a Green + country where just a vax cert there and back will do.

Let's face it, Spain has now fully innoculated more people as a % than the UK (62/59) so if vaccines are there to get us out of this mess, what are we waiting for? Why can't they agree that as soon as two countries have hit, say, 75% then we open up a corridor between them for the fully vaxxed?

Otherwise this will simply go on for years and years??

I wonder if the C19 tests magically disappear once they've given their result after a certain time ? Should have asked my sister to keep it and check !! If the returned result bar stays on the test device. If it does then I can't see any reason it has to be taken out there and not before you fly out (just photo taken and sent at the appropriate time back to the company from Spain). Apart from the rules of course

£££££

You can't use an NHS PCR test and have to pay for a private one if you're having to test as part of returning even from a green country.

I'm sure it's nothing to do with who has a stake in loads of these private companies. Nope. Not at all.
Tend to think that way myself, but then again 10m tourists can't suddenly descend on the NHS and ask for a free test, notwithstanding capacity, that's really not on! But I think there's VAT on these tests which the government could remove. if 500,000 don't fly because the tests are to expensive, take the VAT off and let them fly and take the tax revenue from their flight? Makes kinda sense?? They would get more tax from that, shirley?

Right
Use code Test21 to get them a bit cheaper. Also some of the reviews are terrible and maybe we were lucky, but everything was really smooth and on time.
change of mind i am going for these because i cant get the test date i want at birmingham airport.i take it you do the test straight when you get home from ibiza and drop them off at the drop off box,and thanks for any info.

Don’t call me Surely

So my little report....

Return flights for 2 were £100 so even with tests still only £250. Booked Pikes as was cheap, included a free meal and even scrounged 6 free drinks from them (I'm only a poor nurse)

Going over was fine, apart from the Birmingham - East Midlands - Ibiza detour making it a 4.5 hour journey. Oh and the extremely annoying hen party that surrounded us at East Midlands

Got my bits looked at when landing but through the airport in 10 minutes

Ibiza was amazing, felt like October (but a lot cloudier 😐), Pikes was worth booking

No the bad bit. On the day we left the Passenger Locator Form would not accept our day 2 test code so couldn't complete the form. Rang the company, no answer, rang the helpline, no answer. No PLF, no getting on the plane 😐. In the end got my mate to send me there old ones and used those. The checks at both ends were cursory and we are home.

So, definitely a layer of hassle and stress but am going back in September, life is too short 😁

PS - thanks again to those that run the site and all that use it. I know that thread went toxic but for a long time it was a massive help. And this thread encouraged me to take this trip 😁

I know what you mean but it's all if's and buts? The likelihood of you being positive over there is slim IMO. But if you are found positive and have to quarantine, it's at your expense. Your travel insurance should be able to cover it however

Wow. Glad you sorted that. Which company did you use for the Day 2 tests? Just so I can avoid! Hopefully I'm out again in Sept.

I've read before about people successfully using old reference numbers - good to know this works if you're in this situation.

Eurofins 😐

Will definitely have an old number at the ready next time. Terrible system us something goes wrong, rewards dishonesty.

Enjoy your trip!

The dreaded Eurofins!

I used them for my trip in June. Had to buy Day 2 and Day 8 tests at that time. Then I had to change flights by 8 days, but couldn't get Eurofins to update their info. Luckily the ref no. worked for me on the PLF form.

Never used my Day 8 test in the end.

In Ibiza I wanna mix with people (know what I mean??) therefore, even if they are fully vaxxed like myself, I can still pick covid up unknowingly. As for insurance, I haven't really looked into it much and I'm sure you can get insured for a price, I do know my annual insurers won't pick up the tab so that's another issue to be dealt with. It really is too much hassle and worry; it's meant to be a week of relaxation and it certainly wouldn't be.

When you land is day 0. You can do them then, the day after or the day after. And yes - either find a drop off box or a DX office (locations for both are on the Randox website).

The AA have a very extensive travel policy. Gold cover was £70 for me for 12 months and had comprehensive covid cover, including cost of quarantine hotels
I think we paid £15 insurance on our Jet2 booking which covers Covid costs. I feel safer here than at home. Everyone wearing masks when required and sanitising on entry. Could be famous last words when I do my test……

Right i know im a total spanner but anyone else buying from randox on the iphone and this verificatin link with your bank dont work.or is it just me.
