Getting to/from Ibiza latest info

Seems very complicated travelling from UK considering all posts here. Dont know individual countries´ rules, but for
us it´s basically just the health declaration. No tests needed, not to get there or travelling back home....

I think a lot of people will book the time off work, say late September/October, and then book a green country at the last minute. Wherever that may be.

It is just the forward planning that goes right out of the window at times like this....there must be so many hotels booked with free cancellation that just get dumped at the last minute, must be a nightmare for them as well....

Yes I think this is the way ahead mate.

Booking as last minute as you can, obviously allowing for PCR tests if required, and getting away while a country is in the green.

My missus likes to plan things well in advance, and the current state of affairs is killing her lol.

Whereas I'm a bit more of a spur of the moment kind of person.

Although at the minute I do admit it is a bit stressful trying to second guess what is going to happen 😬

Heart goes out to everyone in that position. Simply isn't worth the risk, is it? After all when you get there you will be spending your time looking over your shoulder at the next test result (for yourself and family) which beggars everything up.
were risking it as of Tuesday (to Mainland Spain). I simply haven't contemplated getting a positive test before the way back! Mitigating circumstances are that we've got free accommodation so not all bad if we did get one - although the phone call to work could be interesting :D:D:D

Getting worried about going with the change to Amber even though fully vaccinated as it's the chance it could go to red while out there  although with the 3 weekly review it should skip over our stay. Due to go 30th August so I lot could change by then! I booked Ocean Beach and airport parking day before the announcement too 😂

We're stressing about the same.......we fly next Wednesday though, surely they wouldn't change it to red a week after?! 🙃

I go Monday 19th and come back Thursday 22nd so I’m praying nothing changes between that time or I atleast have the right amount of time to get myself back to the UK. Surely they aren’t going to change it as soon as it turns amber? Right? Haha

The review is every 3 weeks, so logically unless it goes to absolute shit then the next review is around 4th/5th and due to come in to play on 9th.

The spanish new cases jumped from an average of around 14k daily to over 40k in just one day. That seems just so odd, so out of line even with growing numbers, but the better news is they have given at least one dose to over 60% of the population - almost as many as the UK as we have slowed down recently.

The 7-day rolling average for deaths in Spain is 10/day and has been falling steadily recently.

Looks like the answer is to hold our nerve and if the vaccines do stop the majority of deaths, admissions and severe illnesses, then surely high case numbers can be discounted and we can travel again? That might now be next year - it's gonna take the rest of the year to give everyone both doses but then we should be good to go; and if it's a case of those refusing the jab holding us back, then we should use the apps as our vaccine passport; and they can stay at home?

If those cases grow then I have no doubt they will turn Spain red, and as I have alluded to in my post above they should really be looking at admissions, illnesses and deaths as well as (if not instead of) the case numbers. Again, what's the flaming point of the vaccine if it works but doesn't free us?

But ambering Spain shows they are following cases rather then the worry about importing a new strain. Lied to again??

And how long do you think the uk would wait to see whether it turns red? In your opinion.

You wouldn't have thought so unless they deem the cases high enough and change it before the review! We've decided if it does go to red we'll rebook to somewhere else, possibly Bulgaria which is due to go green. Although as I said a lot can change in 6/7 weeks

I thought that high numbers would already be discounted if hospital and death rate low but the govt arent doing that

Ibiza hospital rate still low, pray it stays that way

I know I don't get why they don't look at the whole picture rather than case numbers

They probably won't do it outside those three-week perameters, but judging on how often they change status (think the Balearics have been amber/green/amber within a matter of 3 - 6 weeks now) if those case numbers rise as they have been doing, I'd expect Spain to go red shortly.

Let's face it, if it's gone from green to amber due to cases doubling, maybe trebling in Spain in a three-week period, if they double/treble again and they don't turn Spain red, that would be wholly inconsistent.

However on the plus side, they may well feel that the red countries are for those countries with a varient not seen in Britain; in which case what happens to Spain's case numbers is irrelevant; and secondly (and possibly more importantly) their beloved voters would be in uproar if they found they couldn't take their kiddies on a Spanish holiday.

So as far as odds go; I reckon the latter points overtake the former - so 10% before the end of the school holidays?

I wish they would come out and explain their thinking though.

We fly on Tuesday next week and we're banking on Ibiza not being relegated to red outside of the review window too. Presumably if UK govt do decide to turn them red, we'd get a few days notice in order to get home.

Our bigger concern is testing positive whilst there and having to do the hotel quarantine. I think we could probably hack it but not sure what would happen with our dogs back home - they're booked in with our dog sitter but not sure if she'd have space to keep them for another 10 days.

Better start looking for contingency plans!

why would they explain their real thinking, when that means they can be held accountable against it when they change countries status with no apparent logic or consistency!

Might be worth thinking about using dog kennels and explaining that there might be an extention?

Also, small fry like cancelling the milk for a week and forgetting to inform them you are delayed,...any appontments etc.
