Getting to/from Ibiza latest info

So a negative test result made within 48 hours prior to arrival in Spain? So if we’re due to touch down on a Saturday at 9:30pm we’ll need to do our test on the Thursday for result Friday to declare Saturday is that the drill? How time sensitive will they be when checking or will it just come down to days rather than hours?

I can handle all the other bits of admin involved but having to do this bit of testing despite being fully vaccinated really is the best part 🤨
This is what I’m struggling with! 48 hours isn’t a large window of opportunity and you have to work around the lab/ delivery couriers opening days and times. There’s a big chance of not getting results back in time.
I’ve seen that Stivi has mentioned 72 hours but I can’t see that on any of the official sites.

You don’t have to if fully vaccinated do you ? Or was your second less than 2 weeks ago?

Second jab more than 2 weeks ago but Northern Ireland don’t have a system in place for proof of vaccination for another few weeks at least. We don’t use the NHS app here.

Very confusing but found thishttps://english.elpais.com/society/2021-06-29/spain-will-require-travelers-from-uk-to-show-diagnostic-test-or-be-fully-vaccinated.html

Ok i've spent all morning looking through various options near me and the prices of everything so hopefully someone finds this useful

Ryanair have a green pack test kit that costs £89 and contains a fit to fly PCR test and a 2 day after return one. They also do an Amber pack for £129 which also includes the 8 day after return test. You won't be able to fill out your passenger locator form without both the reference numbers from these tests so you MUST have the 2 day test booked before departure. Unfortunately you are relying on a courier picking this up from a drop off point (usually at a chemist or doctors surgery from what i can see) and this has to be done within 72 hours. If your flight leaves at 5pm on Saturday then you have to do the test after 5pm on Wednesday which means you won't get results until Friday which is cutting it fine.

Next is a walk in test at Boots in Reading. They don't do a pack of two or three tests it's all individual ones and the fit to fly test is £99 and the 2 day return one is £129 so over double the price of Ryanair/Randox. This is done by someone but then you have to post the sample away yourself so again there may be problems with post and cutting it fine re the results

Next is Express Test which do drive ins at Heathrow and Reading plus other airports and sport stadiums. No test packs but prices for fit to fly go from £59 to £80 and are done by drive through or walk in from what i can see. You are guaranteed to get your results by 10pm the following day so this is quickest i think. The 2 day test is £99 at the places i checked

If you search for Express Test there are loads of options around the country and although they are more expensive than Randox, the next day guarantee might sway people who only have 72 hours between test and flight

I think i'm going to buy the Randox ones through Ryanair and also book Heathrow because as ridiculous as it sounds it's cheaper to buy the three tests rather than two and as the pre departure test is obviously time sensitive i will have a back up in case one gets lost.

Yes you do. Everyone needs a negative PCR test and also proof you have booked a test 2 days after you return otherwise you can't fill in your passenger locator form and therefore won't get on flight.

THIS IS WRONG IGNORE ME

So for us arriving in Ibiza at 9:30pm Saturday we would need to get a test done on the Friday morning as Thursday is therefore too soon and then wait for the results to come through on the day of departure? That is pretty harrowing stuff.

Even then, Randox state their results come through next day anytime up to 11:59pm. 48 hours is so tight.

I don't think you need a PCR if you have proof of full vaccination with 2nd dose more than 2 weeks ago

Yep. I am not even thinking about it till August, melting my brain reading all this!...see what the rules are then and if we are still allowed to go
I'm trying to work out what October will look like. Personally I think it's time all travel restrictions within Europe were lifted for the vaxxed, unless of course a really serious variant emerges. Those refusing or too young still could still travel with testing. Think by August, certainly September, every UK over 18 will have been offered both jabs, so what's to lose?
