Getting to/from Ibiza latest info

I’m desperate to know if we will need the tests as we both had our second vaccine on the 24th. We fly Friday so that will only be 9 days. We have the vaccine passports on the nhs app.
I know we are just waiting to hear for confirmation… I need to book the test if not so a bit stressy

I think you will need pcr, you have to have had vaccine for 14 days prior to not need pcr

Still no test for vaccinated travels entering coming from USA? I am flying from Pennsylvania to Chicago to Madrid to Ibiza

I’m so gutted as we didn’t find out that we could just walk in for our second jab until last Thursday and the second we could do it we rushed down there. We had better get booking. Apparently the second one works after a week?

A few of my friends have been double vacced but caught it after lack of social distancing in the pub for Eng v Sco.

Felt like nothing more than a common cold they've said
Well I was double vaccinated with the Chinese one, went and got my Pfizer booster last Thursday and then got a positive test yesterday….bloody horremodus, no taste, cough etc, So I really don’t get just relying on people that have been vaccinated. PCR test should also be mandatory in my view. On a plus I can sit at home watching the football and tennis for the next 10 days.

All this has really highlighted my lack of a smartphone!
I don't use a smart phone on a daily basis. But I have bought a cheap smartphone to use when on holiday. I don't have a SIM card in it. I just log on to free wifi at airports and hotels. I have managed to go this way without a paper ticket on several flights.

Here in Ibiza, before leaving the hotel, I download the latest podcasts that I follow. There's really no need to be online all the time.

My mate travels on Thursday morning 9am. Not knowing when the 72hr from announcement today to it coming into effect, plus he has had 2 Jabs but not been the full 14 days, has decided to have a PCR test this afternoon.

That's damned bad luck. Thing is Sinovac isn't very effective against variants and you'll get nowt from pfizer for 2 weeks at least. It's only really super-effective 2 weeks after after 2nd jab so you'll likely have been relying on the Chinese one to protect you. The logic behind not testing fully vaccinated travellers (with an EU-approved vaccine) is that they tend to get very mild symptoms and therefore not be so contageous. 2 Astrazenecas seems to work OK but I very much doubt 1 Janssen one will be much better than Sinovac with Delta etc so if they accept that one as "fully vaccinated" I very much doubt it'll have the desired result as regards safety of people travelling to/from the islands. It's all politics over logic !

It was Sinopharm that i had originally which seemed to have quite good results and WHO approved etc. but they are already offering Pfizer as a booster and I’ll go and get a second one in a few weeks now that I’ve got the rona - hopefully then I’ll be sorted. Its not although I’ve been partying etc and still mostly working from home, Just unlucky i guess.

That's awful; the good news though is that the chance of it being fatal is now 1/1000 (BBC News) whereas at worst it was 1/60. Think the odds will improve as the vaccine roll-out continues.

Please you don't have to answer this at all and I shouldn't really ask - does your friend have any pre-existing conditions which make them more at risk and the vaccine less effective?

Nothing at all. They're not too ill, far better than first time, but I'm.still surprised. I felt pretty immune but obviously not. Bugger

Gosh that’s horrible. It’s why I think it’s still important to get a PCR if not vaccinated. If it protects people then it must be worth it.
I thought I had my PCR test booked for tomorrow but has booked next week at boots! Nothing available for MILES. Unless we travel to derby or Leeds. So having to pay £125 per person instead of £85.
If anyone needs the PCR to get to Ibiza I would suggest you book early as possible.
Turning out to be an expensive trip this one.
Keep safe all xx

Are you doing yours at a Boots store?

Randox seem to be doing PCR at these locations for £60, results next day

So it it test within 48 hours of arrival? And can be RAT?

E2A: Ignore me again - I see @stivi addressed last night on the Ibiza Updates thread

So a negative test result made within 48 hours prior to arrival in Spain? So if we’re due to touch down on a Saturday at 9:30pm we’ll need to do our test on the Thursday for result Friday to declare Saturday is that the drill? How time sensitive will they be when checking or will it just come down to days rather than hours?

I can handle all the other bits of admin involved but having to do this bit of testing despite being fully vaccinated really is the best part 🤨
