you're all missing the point

its not about getting jetsetters or getting rid of the clubbers - its about changing the bad image that ibiza has around the world

sunderlandgirl - here's the reason in a nutshell:

btw i found this the other day
if someone were to go to a podcast site that had a dot com at the end and just had podcast in the address and happened to search for ims 2nd panel ....

Yes fair points there.

Who is speaking on the audio?

I think it's more than that. I think there's also a desire to reduce any negative impact that clubbing tourism has on the local population. It's a quality of life issue, to some degree.

I'd add that there is also a rule-of-law consideration.

it was andy from ibiza rocks and manumission from the ims clubs panel at the end of may

the ims have said theyll put podcasts up but sadly nothing yet - it would help explain to people what is going on this year

Re Opening...

If DC10 is to serve the full 57 day ban will it re open on Monday the 18th or Monday the 25th of August?

Or is it still unclear?

(island) strategy

You don't get many jetsetters pilled off their heads and dressed insanely rolling down the street terrorising the locals...
the ones I've seen just sit around posing on yachts and spending scary amounts of money on champagne in the old town!

I think they wanna turn Ibiza into a millionaires playground (even more so) the way they are cracking down on the clubbing and building new 5* hotels & health spas etc

I wonder what it will be like in 5 years time?

I agree totally....this (business/touristic) strategy will not work...:spank:...
it`s obvious ;)

have any of you actually read that dub magazine interview in full ???

do any of you understand economics and politics on an island level ?
You know, I have agreed on some of your positions in this thread, but your holier than now attitude is starting to grate a little bit.

I have read the interview (if you mean the tourism minister one). I'm pretty good with economics, and a political scientist by education. I don't live on the island (not yet!) but I've picked up a few things.

If you believe that all these crackdowns are only about spreading the word of non-clubbing Ibiza, I beg to differ. For that, knowlege of marketing and advertising would be far more useful than economics or politics.

And if you don't believe that certain forces on the island would like to attract the jet set in place of a certain number of other travelers, then I believe you are also mistaken.

its "holier than thou" btw :)
