Problem is if they stop it many will go under! In that 3 months last time I had 10k go out of my bank more than what came in! Not eligible for any grants! Taken an 50k loan to hopefully help over the coming years!
we cannot afford to stop again if the support is going to be the same!
I also appreciate others have had it far worse, I’m just trying to give some context from a personal point of view within the construction industry.
I get it - I'm not in construction but have taken in well under £10k in the last 12 months and not eligible for any grants. My work does not lend itself well to doing things over zoom or never meeting and I used to spend weeks away each year doing that. Having to work entirely from home means I've pretty much had to walk away from what possible work I could otherwise have taken on and there's no end in sight for that before Summer. My last realistic funds came in November 2019 so I've been raiding reserves since then. I'm now going into month 14 of outgoings way exceeding incoming funds. What scares me most is that the longer this goes on, the weaker my referral network becomes and by the time we hit Summer I may struggle to revive things at all - and by then it will have been over 18 months net cash negative. I've carried a year long drought in the last decade and survived it in a buoyant economy but this one is really tough.
