seems to be talk over there about starting to go back to normal after those three weeks, at least though.
We'll see. Curfew extended twice already.. feeling a bit more optimistic today but nothing really to base that on

Looks like the address from Liz later will be the national morale booster before a more stringent lockdown is slammed down tomorrow, coinciding with Boris' return in front of camera. That's how it's looking to me anyway
Knowing the man's ego, I also make the prediction a few pages back about the VE day bank holiday looking a good bet for things being relaxed. Obviously that's going to hinge on the infection and death rate in the next 3 weeks, but I bet he's salivating at the prospect of being able to do that
It's a shame some f***wits ruin it for others. Police should crack down on those people, but I guess becomes a minefield to police compared to a full lockdown.
Can't believe people been going to parks to sunbathe ??
?
It doesn't really affect me as i exercise inside and do have a garden. Not too great for those without private open space.
Why too soon? The lockdown is slated to end here at April 28th. Events still forbidden till June 1st.
Usual holiday starts in July. I think the government and schools want to do a quick run-up on basic things like reading, maths and writing before schoolyear ends. With the current downtrend of the virus in the Netherlands...I think it's possible to open schools in may, shops/business in June and events larger than 1000 people after summer.
We'll have to see later on if the countries with full lockdown did better than countries with semi-lockdowns.this is why I said I understood the spanish government prohibiting walks/excercise etc. without doing that, the lockdown would NEVER have worked in spain.
Reports of a tougher lockdown in UK from tomorrow, including outdoor excercise banned.
Her Maj the Queen live to the nation at 8pm, but thats expected to be morale boosting not laying down the law.
We'll see. Note that I was talking about the Netherlands only.Deluded

In the end there has to occur some sort of herd immunity with the low-risk groups...even on a really small scale while flattening the curve. And at the same time you're keeping your citizens a bit more healthy and sane because they can actually go outside without police asking where they are going.
Perhaps countries with full lockdown will have new outbreaks as soon as the lockdown is lifted, because everyone wants out at the same time? And what is reasonable for people, how long can you really lock them up before they start bending the rules?
I'm not sure what the best solution is. The dutch are calling it an intelligent lockdown, where people are still free to go outside but all the major tourists attractions such as parks and beaches are closed anyway. So no large groups gathering, 1.5 meter distance (except when you're a couple or family).
Same here... You know how French people say hello to friends, family...an 'intelligent lockdown' wouldn't work in spain. everyone would be outside and meeting each others, it's the mediterranean way of life.

Dutch documentary that will be broadcasted here tomorrow about the long term effects of social distancing.
Pyschiatrists and Pscyhologists will talk about how social distancing and not being able to touch, hug or be close to others can cause trauma's. Humans are made to have physical contact. "If this lingers on too long, people will not only be alienated from others, but also from theirselves. It will cause psychological problems'
So you're one of the problem people who are going to increase the risk of community spread and death. Sounds very society minded of you ?If my governments allows me to go to a park to sunbathe...and I am there with my girlfriend...keeping at least 1,5 meter distance from others. And everyone does the same. I don't see what would be wrong with that.
Now if my governments decides to come with a tougher lockdown....ok.
Nobody said the lockdown and the social distances have no consequences on the mental...About the way we interact...and also a bit about the mediterranean way of life then:

Now please don't @ me again with "would you rather have millions of people dying" .... just putting this here to think about that too. Most Ibiza-goers I know are warm and physical people, hugging and dancing together like they've known each other for years, either sober or drug-induced.
In that case I can see a mass outbreak occurring. More restrictions will be seen as going in the wrong direction; a right-wing government exercising power because they can?? The public won't like that (even though they voted for it) - they might get away with it for another 7 days but that's about the limit IMO.Reports of a tougher lockdown in UK from tomorrow, including outdoor excercise banned.
