Never said that.
I said that the measures don't outweigh the side effects.....and the side effects can be that our kids and even their kids will suffer from this for years to come. And then we are talking about their quality of life and life expectancy too. If I were 80+ I wouldn't want my kids to suffer from this for the rest of their lives compared to the...5 years I would have left
What an odd outlook. There's 80 year olds that probably lead far more fulfilling happier lives than you.
Who gives a f*** if you're broke for the next few years or your kids cant have it as easy as before.
Toughen up and get over it, might encourage people to be less wasteful and more resourceful.
Life is precious regardless of age.

'Sorry you're dead at 60 dad, but at least I can go to El Row in August now'

Why are the side effects? Higher taxation and some global finance recession but we've been here many times, tighten your belts and we go again. Surely that is worth preserving actual life for?

that is my take too.

even the world's two biggest economy hardliners (trump and bolsonaro) eventually had to come to terms that preserving life simply comes before keeping the economy up.

I'm just listening to a press conference from the council of ibiza and it's not looking good for the season at all. I'm sure there will be a link later to a newspaper article about it.

In germany we have similar opinins by the chief of the economic friendly party ( FDP )
They tell it in a different way , but they eant to tell similar things

Done with this topic because people are just looking for something to be angry on, not really paying attention to what is said or written.
Good luck y'all :)

Its not 'just' about economy.
Economy has a big influence on health. Health of the next generations.

I know you just said you're done with this topic, but you genuinely made me curious now...

what would YOU do?
I said it before I think. Herd immunity while putting the risk groups in quarantine.
Not shutting down life and putting everyone in lockdowns without perspective or a solid plan like most governments do. Perhaps that's the Swedish way.

No , sorry

I dont have the same opinion as this party. No one wants to give 5 years of life for the economie . This is against basic laws of our socieyity. Life is not payable

Oh God really why do you say that? And then you think then will slow down

I'm sure @Hurr1cane will add his thoughts but the way I see it...in italy, the epicentre is in lombardy. milan was hit yeah, venice too, but mainly bergamo. which, compared to madrid and barcelona is a really small city. in spain, the two biggest cities of the country have been hit and the government has been too late in putting the lockdown in so from madrid and barcelona it has spread further and quicker than was the case in italy. I might be wrong with this assumption though.

But what about the health system? Many young people with no underlying conditions are ending up in intensive care. And then what about general non-COVID health issues when they cannot get the treatment they need.

Even with fairly restrictive lockdown in the UK the health service is absolutely stretched and temporary hospitals with many Thousands of beds are being set up

I think almost everyone now knows that the hospitalisation rate is many times higher than 'flu' so why bring that on yourselves

Will only work with a lot of victims. Not only older people. They calculate with millions if deaths without doing strict measures

and by that simply accept that a) the health system in every country collapses and b) also people that aren't 'risk group' die too?
sorry, to me that's just inhumane.
