Exactly this. The letters are surely being sent out to ease people into the reality that the uk lockdown is here to stay for a while yet, but without actually saying that. I’d assume the government will keep moving the lockdown dates by three weeks or so at a time, but they know full well that it’ll be June at the earliest and that’s highly optimistic.I think it's been 'leaked' a bit to get people used to the idea. Gove is saying extended period and this quote in a few papers :
"But professor Neil Ferguson, who is the Government’s leading epidemiology adviser, believes the UK’s lockdown needs to be in place until June."

I think there might be limited international flights August time, but any sensible country would impose a 14 day quarantine for those arriving. Only thing that would change that would be a viable and reliable antibody test, checked on entry of any country.Lockdown for longer does work in slowing the spread down.. If they risk releasing people too early the whole mess starts again
Yes defo limit on flights especially from high-risk countries Spain and Italy...I dont even know if travel bans will be lifted then...I think there might be limited international flights August time, but any sensible country would impose a 14 day quarantine for those arriving. Only thing that would change that would be a viable and reliable antibody test, checked on entry of any country.
(Watching uk select committee, it's like a diabetic pin prick test, and could be rolled out early as mid April *but* only if evaluation shows it works and doesn't give false positives)
Edit: of course antibody test only useful to show you've had it and shows low risk. If not had it, can't think of any way to get around quarantine ?
I hear about the kids.. so glad I haven't got any..I would go insaneWell it's only a week and I'm going batshit crazy, and I've a decent sized house and garden. Goodness knows how people in high-rise flats are coping, especially if they've no balcony and even worse got kids to endure.
I've got a cousin in London who's in an one-bedsit (single/no kids) and I've said "come up here, more room" but as neither of us has been tested or has had it - she can't come. Her sister's up here too....I hear about the kids.. so glad I haven't got any..I would go insane
I've seen an, er, "adult" picture where an empty one has been stuffed - maybe a comment on the current situation....Fck it, I'm on holiday.. ?

Well if they break their neck I hope they don'e expect an ambulance for 24 hours to pick them up.Would you say riding your off road motor bike along the river bank is exercise or essential travel? Just seen a turnip do this ??

Gorgeous ladyboys...mmmm....*I'd better stop there*Takes me back to Bangkok
It's a point that seems to be overlooked, if the lockdown and testing fails to stop the spread...then what??? I suppose the answer is to open the doors and let those who catch it survive and the weak die, but how inhumane would that be??My thoughts are while they ain't gonna infect anyone doing that, what else they doing they really shouldn't?
Question for @stivi or anyone else in Spain or Italy; are people adhering to the stay at home policy? Know it might be hard to know if you are of course!
Just that if Italian numbers don't start to decrease soon, is that cause people not following rules or is there another unknown source of transmission.
Also been reading the Chinese numbers on death might be off a lot. Someone did research in number of urns crematorium been buying and a lot higher. But then again official death numbers might be just ones who've been tested positive. Might be a lot of others who weren't so not counted in official figures.
South Korean style mass testing and tracing. People who test positive have movements tracked etc. It's a point that seems to be overlooked, if the lockdown and testing fails to stop the spread...then what??? I suppose the answer is to open the doors and let those who catch it survive and the weak die, but how inhumane would that be??
