Had a nice little surprise, emptied a cupboard and found a small jar with some Ibizan sand in it. Must have been there years, but so heartwarming to run my fingers through it. It's got there after washing trainers and shoes at home that have spent days on the beach, collected, dried and preserved. Thought what kinda pillock does that; but I'm so glad now!!

We got a small jar someplace, too. I blame my wife, but its nice to have...

Similarly my missus always makes little videos whenever we are at a club in Ibiza.

I always cringe a bit thinking we look like phone w@nkers 😬

But I’ve been watching them back loads over the past year lol.

Over the years I've done videos of the sun setting and all the lights (of Formentera from Ibiza...and Ibiza from Formentera) lighting and twinkling in the distance. They last about 45' to an hour; and sat here in the middle of winter watching them again with a glass of red, makes me feel that I'm there again sat by a table at Sa Roqueta. Really needs projecting onto a wall though!!

It’s disturbing that leaders think masks outside, especially when socially distancing is possible, actually makes sense.
Agreed.
But to be honest...to me it's just as disturbing to hear people accept those ridiculous rules and say...ah well it's just for a few months until the vaccin program gets up to speed.

The masks outside in Spain thing does look weird at first glance but when you see what's going on in Madrid in particular you can understand it - people just aren't respecting distancing measures and curfews as they should be.

I hope it works out for the UK as they move into the younger population. So far it seems ok in the UK, but the cause for concern elsewhere seems to be justified.

about the blood clotting, maybe, but what about the numerous other constructive assassination of it that stretches back to even before the trials started? Been an absolute whipping boy on the international stage with Oxford AstraZeneca being painted out to be some kind of back street, amateur operation

I think it was overdone, but most of it was justified as well. They screwed up their trial and the PR around the results of the trial. They do look like a bit of an amateur operation compared to the others tbh.

Predictably the mask on beaches thing has been picked up by "the press". Massive PR own goal for the tourism industry, no matter how you try to angle it

Obviously all the reports lack nuance and go for the clickbait headline, but you didn't need to be a genius to see how that would play out 🙄

Would've been better off just restricting numbers on beaches, surely, even if the authorities went to the extreme

Whatever happens on the continent, I'm sure the likes of Spain will find a way of admitting tourists from the UK, they really have to as their economy depends on it. And they'd probably want a jump-start over places like France, Turkey etc.

So whether or not they halt/slow down vaccinations it shouldn't have much effect on our holidays?

nah, it's 100% politics at play. The one vaccine that isn't being made for profit is bad, but all the others are fine of course

Agree to disagree there. Some politics I’m sure, but AZ did themselves no favors. Fauci said it right, a lot of unforced errors.
