Yet the narrative has been....flatten the curve deaths, Covid-ICU numbers and then around summer it was about PCR tests. The narratives changes from time to time...sometimes it's about the R, sometimes it's not. Now it's about the British variant.

Also, we've seen the pressure on hospitals before in 2016 and 2018...before Covid even existed.

There is/was still a big emphasis on PCR tests and, lockdowns and other measures were solely based on this before and after summer.
No we havent , nothing like this ever, not even close, not in the same country let alone ball park. For you to even suggest that shows you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

You may know virology, epidemiology and social psychology but I definitely definitely know hospitals

Where's the evidence?

so keen on evidence, until you read the WHO website on mask guidance then you go quiet ??

Masks should be used as part of a comprehensive strategy of measures to suppress transmission and save lives; the use of a mask alone is not sufficient to provide an adequate level of protection against COVID-19.

If COVID-19 is spreading in your community, stay safe by taking some simple precautions, such as physical distancing, wearing a mask, keeping rooms well ventilated, avoiding crowds, cleaning your hands, and coughing into a bent elbow or tissue. Check local advice where you live and work. Do it all!

Who's gone quiet? I'm still here
........

In Birmingham we have most of the nurses from the Children's Hospital, the Womens Hospital, the Orthopaedic hospital moved over to us. Educators and dentists supporting ICU. Everything, everything none essential is cancelled. The ICU cancer nurses are working Covid. 1000 covid patients in beds. Average age ICU 67. Doubled ICU and we are barely, barely hanging on. In a full lockdown

What am I worried about though? It's all PCR tests or just old people or something ?

Roll on Ibiza

There was a guy on ch4 news who works in itu and represents them for England. Said most hospitals at 100% itu capacity and many where running at 200-300% capacity- but with the same number of staff.

If that isn't definition of been f***ed or almost completely f***ed, I'm not sure.

I certainly don't want to have to need the NHS acute care any time soon if I can help it (or anyone I know!)

The big big majority of people dying from covid are in resthomes, care homes etc....and that's basically where people go to die.
Do you get how that and a few other things you have said about older people could be seen as offensive?

Do you think someone at the end of their life with a very progressed dementia has less value than you? That is the impression you give but I may be wrong

Shush your nonsense. People over 60 should be glad they made it that far. Take one for the team and that good old British war time spirit! ?
They only fought facism or rebuilt Europe so we could live the lives we do. But f**k em, I want to go clubbing, they are basically waiting to die anyway

Interestingly the Netherlands have some of the most progressive care homes on the planet
