In turn @Hally, I think a lot of us feel the same about your honest and pragmatic posts. It puts things in to perspective when I think things are a bit shit but actually I've got it pretty easy x
Think just need to man up. Just a little flu for christ sake! ??

Agree with the comments back, even if the vaccine isn’t working as well as we hoped by summer surely we just have to crack on to a certain extent, By then there won’t be an alternative way to stop our economy and society crashing around us.

EU membership money now firmly tied up in furlough payments I'm sure .......

Blimey. It'll take a few generations to pay that off........
I know mate, its same magnitude from all the debt we owed the USA from 2nd world war. We only just paid that off in 2006 ?‍♂️

This is why world governments need to do something about capital been offshored and no tax paid on it for the country of origin. More and more pie been taken away. Gov have less to run countries with.

- anyhow I digress, least I'm getting good at doing a mean fade haircut ?

Vicious circle. There'll be less tax coming in the play with......

Although we've just paid ours. And it was more than I'd have liked. A bit painful sending that one across.......

It will. Unfortunately the worst is to come in terms of the economy. Furlough ends at the end of April. This is what is keeping people in jobs. I have been very critical of the U.K. government handling of Covid, but there are potentially three success stories - Furlough, testing and hopefully the vaccination programme.

The drivers of the economy are going to shift considerably when we are able to open up more. Sadly we are going to see a lot of redundancies. For those in work, we will see big increases in income tax and national insurance. As a result of learning during Covid times we will see a digital revolution and this has already started. That will provide huge commercial and communicative opportunities but it will also cost a lot of jobs in a lot of sectors as things get done much more efficiently. Some industries will be slower to return - hospitality and tourism in particular.

These are the harsh realities as we get out of the health care crisis. As you allude to, there are future generations that won’t have lived through Covid that will be paying for it and that is very sad in itself. It will be a problem of our making that they will still be paying for.

Just as with wars or other catastrophes. We generated the response, but not the virus !

I think that remains to be seen. It came from somewhere. When I say it is a problem of our making I mean it’s a problem made by our generation, whether that be by nature, a lab or by people.

The recent news and progress of the vaccination in the U.K. has made me much more positive about all of this. Glad we have got this right so far and setting some fairly achievable goals. Living by the sea and some decent weather this weekend also helps.

I’m still cautious over what to expect this spring onwards but agree that it should be at least slightly better than what we had in July / August and I can deal with that. Not overly confident about nightlife still though but we will see.

Also found out My employer is allowing rollover of all unused leave, so should have 35 days to play with so no excuses not to make Ibiza!

I think all UK employers have to do this now. Sure there will plenty who do their best to wriggle out of it!

It’s only guidance for companies where they may require staff to work over certain periods and taking leave may not be possible. So those in healthcare, logistics, retail etc I guess. But of course any company can take advantage of the relaxation which my company has done

I have 50 days including the bank holidays. Annoyingly my boss has booked the week my mates have booked for Ibiza, which is a rollover from last year so i don't think they'll be able to change it was even if Ibiza isn't properly running as it will be normal enough even if it hasn't picked up.
Then to make it worse we have moved a show of ours that was in the summer to early October so if the season does pick up I won't be able to do a late trip either :spank:

Notice in the UK there are headlines *one Covid patient admitted to hospital every 30 seconds* but they don't say the rate that treated patients are being released. More scare tactics for the sake of it? No hiding that new infection numbers have plummeted this last week, and more to come this week I hope.

Then they will send the kids back to school and it all starts again....
