Complete and utter shambles here in the UK (volume 4523.4d) with c10,000 positive results going missing. Someone uploading the figures didn't realise excel has a capacity limit so stopped the upload....

Now pardon me, one of the first lessons in computing, after how to find imagefap, was that everything has a capacity, drives, cards, government intelligence. The only people who could cock it up are those who might have previously worked for talktalk.

Oh...hold my beer....
Thats exactly why I don't trust the testing figures from any govt...they do the tests record them and we are expecting to believe that all these tests are accurate and no mistake has been made somewhere

No you're not. It's even a disadvantage of using masks...people feel safer so they loosen up the social distancing easier.

Love how you use the same mad head guy.

Guess someone put 20p in ya ?

Apparently the hit the excel internal limit. I wonder if they have a semi automated system that exports to excel for another system, hits the internal limit but carrys on with a truncated data set.?

If I'm in a taxi (rear seat) on my own + driver, both are wearing masks, what are the odds - if one has covid unsymptomatic - of the other catching covid if (a) both had masks on (b) the carrier had a mask, the other not (c) the other way round (d) neither was wearing a mask?

To me that's a key question, that's a fairly standard situation, could be a car with a mate, taxi, bus, train etc.

Being a bit of an amateur in all this (OK, thicko then) I would have thought, just like uploading or transferring photos on cards, when the limit is exceded or about to be there would be an on-screen warning? Never used excel or similar, but surely the same would apply, so that if somewan was uploading a huge set of figures, they don't just do it and leave it, they occasionally return to the screen?

You'd hope so, but I can't see it been upload failing. It either uploads completely or not at all. Half a file would be corrupt and upload would fail if site had file size limits (like images on here)

Like thought, it appears an automated process that adds new peeps to the spreadsheet failed. (Open doc add person save and close. Doesn't check if fails or tell anyone lol)

Wtf using excel as a backend db, no idea ?‍♂️?‍♂️

The problem was caused by an Excel spreadsheet reaching its maximum file size, which stopped new names being added in an automated process.

Which is exactly what I presumed.
Ah i see now...too quick in my reaction. :D

To me...the whole mask thing is the same with closing the schools in April. Symbolic-politics.
Our government advised against closing the schools based on science first. So we had a semi-lockdown with schools still open. Then teachers created an uproar, telling the media they didn't feel safe. Some parents kept their kids home. As a result schools closed after all a few days later.

Masks were not part of the new measures last week. Because our national health institute stated there is no scientific evidence for any added value.
Mayor of Amsterdam started a lobby for masks (again like she did earlier), some opposition parties joined her lobby and there we are...the government have quickly put out a urgent advise to wear one.

Based on science our national health institute looks to be in line with what Tegnell in Sweden is thinking...but the government (national and local) are caught in a fear-driven vacuum and are making other decisions.

Wonder what would help with a disease spread by the respiratory system, droplets hanging in the air, esp in places with re-circulating air etc...

?I know!

people should hold their breath, forever. FOREVER! ?

I may have. Posted in the wrong thread sorry

A link to sign for the petition for more funding and help from the govt re supporting clubbing, dancing and music festivals

The worst thing is the astonishing silence about how low the death figures are. Is as if they want us to be scared shitless....
The death announcements where at the bottom of the excel file, whoops ?

Below is link to bbc page that shows uk stats. They've corrected last weeks for excel-gate ?

Deaths are low but hospitalization is creeping up. Let's hope it's not going to keep going up. Even if don't die, been in hospital ain't fun.

@ElrowLovers you keep on posting stuff from erm...let's say 'interesting' sources ?
Could be...but...

It's backed by multiple scientific articles.
Tegnell in Sweden thinks the same about masks.
van Dissel from The Netherlands thinks the same about masks.

Perhaps the normal main stream sources are not willing to post these type of data and research?

Exactly!
There was some criticism here on why there are new measures while hospital numbers and death figures are still low...so today MSM thought it would be wise to publish articles about 'long term damage'...Most people here just laugh when I say 'fear porn' but that's all it is right now.

Did you even read the rebuttal?

The papers he refers to don't actually show what he is trying to push. The compare resparators/masks. One is less effective than the other, sure, but they are not ineffective.

Van Dissel was great in pitch black ?

Wasn't really talking about the rebuttal in this specific article alone.
There's lots to be found. Not only in what you guys would call Russian propaganda sites.
And it's really easy to come up with scientific article vs scientific article for every little part of discussion in Covid anyway so that's not my goal anyway.

Why would a national expert of health come up with the statement that masks have very little to no use?
Have you googled van Dissel or Tegnell to see what they think?
