I‘m not 100% sure on this.

seeing spain and france are that high with cases, I do doubt the italian numbers are 'real'

maybe I need to take this back.

they seem to indeed do a sh*tload of testing and also require negative pcr tests to get into italy depending where you're arriving from

Italy has a similar level of testing (scaled to the population) with France and Germany. Germany in fact is behaving more or less like us, looking at the numbers. France is much worse... From what I know, in France masks were not compulsory indoor for a lot of time, maybe someone from france here can confirm? When a friend of mine came from Paris in July, he was surprised to see people with masks in a ice cream shop.
Uk and Spain are indeed testing much more. Look at the worldometer data

we have just been in tuscany for 10 days because we could not come to ibiza because of the impending 10-day quarantine, we visited rome and milano on the way home and the situation seems to be somewhat relaxed, in some shops before entering the Staff measures the fever, wearing masks can be seen almost everywhere, especially on the streets of Rome or Milan, but sometimes I also saw younger and older people who weren't wearing any. but when you go to the beach there are no people wearing masks. it seems as if the italians are a bit more relaxed in dealing with the whole thing. Beach bars with loud music and clubs were anyway closed because there were some cases of infection in mid-August. a bar we visited was busy but music was not played loud, ppl still were drinking and having a good time.

Masks are mandatory inside in France since a few months now.

And will probably be rescheduled again. I've had 5 gigs rescheduled, a few of them a couple of times so far.
For sure.. we had tickets for a festival near where we live that was happening in August, tickets still valid for AUG 2021, and we are glad to say Iggy Pop who was one of this year's headlines act .. is available to play 2021...lol

Another one from John Hopkins University, for the people (and specially here in France!) who think France is doing a shitty job since the beginning... 21819.png
Number of deaths per million.

thanks for sharing. Just to explain, this is related to the period 5-13 September, while the worldometer data are cumulative. In this sense, France in the first period of the infection (until June) were testing muuuuch less. Now good to know they are doing much more. In any case, even considering double testing, the new infections in France and Spain are much bigger than in Italy and Germany.
I am not defending any country, I was very sceptical indeed when in Italy clubs were opened... In fact a lot of infections came up in Costa Smeralda (sardinia).

Yes during the first months, France was just testing the people with symptoms.
I don't know why we have a such bad number of cases now, because the rules are less or more the same here than in the others European countries.

Heard some scientists saying it could be due to the super harsh lockdown, meant less people contracted the virus earlier on in the year.

I know Google can probably answer but I'd rather ask you folk here.

What's the exact laws regarding face masks in shops.

Some shops all the staff are wearing masks/visors.

Other shops zero staff wearing anything.

Just an observation iv made whilest out and about in both local small, and big chain stores.

Staff don’t need to wear them by law. Company policy may be different. Of couse individual staff members may wish to wear them for their own protection.

All customers must wear them, unless you have a genuine medical exemption.

The question is if more and more testing is a good thing. Test people with symptoms only would be better.

The Netherlands have upped the testing enormously. Now a survey showed that every week over 100.00 people got themselves tested without symptoms. So everyday the newspaper says: new record in infections, while in reality it's a new record in positive PCR tests.
There are multiple scientific articles about that test. It will turn out positive even when there is a small dead particle of the virus in your nose/throat from 3 months ago. Not even talking about false positives.

So what we have is not a daily record in cases or infections, but a daily records in positive PCR tests...but that does not say anything about symptoms or how infectious those people are.
Yesterday in the Netherlands: 1756 positive tests, around 200 people in all hospitals in total and the IC patients lowered from 54 to 49.
I posted earlier about the Dutch ICU spokesperson published that the length of stay in the ICU went from 22 days to 8 days.
I'm not even talking about the current (not talking about march / april for the record) death rate here...it's about the same as fatal car accidents, 10x less than the flu in 2018/2019, 70x less than cancer.

However...our government will hold a press conference tonight announcing a midnight curfew for pubs, bars, public places in certain regions (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague). With our numbers, it's insane to announce new measures instead of lifting the existing measures in the first place...but this curfew is the most crazy one I've seen yet. Apparently the virus only comes out after midnight. It's even more ridiculous if you count the fact that most "infections" take place in family surroundings, at home or at workplaces now, as shown in our governmental dashboards.

Thanks lee
Was just something I noticed walking around primark.
80% of customers wearing masks but 0% staff.
I don't have a huge opinion for/against masks (I wear one) but it just felt strange how the customer was expected to wear one but staff not.
