Amazingly, we arrived last night and pleasantly surprised at most places in Figueretas being opened. A nice vibe with lots of locals - feels like late April / early May but with August weather!

People working in bars and restaurants very friendly and chilled - not like the frazzled August atmosphere. Offered lots of free shots!

About half of people wearing masks walking about outside but taking them off at the tables.
Italian bar next door to the the kebab place on the corner (also opposite the hotel)?

Is Bar Chaos open? To be fair it's so small if they have distancing they could only fit six in, or five and the dog....

Chaos looked pretty closed earlier but that might be due to it being Sunday? Comic (Cosmic) definitely shut, sadly.

Hadn’t realised where Toure was - pretty sure it was an orange Dutch bar last year, but with the same grumpy (but amusing!) Scottish owner. Busy but social distancing although they decent house tunes turned to Raggeaton after midnight. ?

Ibiza Town / Dalt Vila lively. Great meal in La Bodega - much nicer with tables spread out and staff on top form (more free drinks!)

Lack of social distancing in restaurants such as Sa Torreta through the archway though. Felt like in previous years with tables very close.

Chaos is a great winter hang out.. stayed closed for a good few Summer's but was open last year... Coming up on our 10 yr anniversary next Feb Of the lock-in at Chaos .. I was so fck I thought it was called Chad's for a few days..

Went down to Brighton yesterday with my 2 year old, absolutely crazy busy. The Pier was an absolute joke, arcades rammed, queues for the funfair, bars full with dirty tables and people smoking. Some token hand sanitisers and a one way system that was vaguely followed but was the first time I have felt uneasy anywhere since the lockdown was relaxed. It's all just a bit messed up...

and our trusting leaders still think travelling to a foreign country with low cases is a risk ?

That is exactly what I was thinking while I battled through the arcade with everyone pressing buttons and putting their 2p's in the machines! I mean, I can get my head around the pier opening, that's fine...you can even manage the funfair to some extent by cleaning after each ride etc...but that arcade was a joke. No need for it to be open at all.....

Oh shit, that's where I'm going tomorrow, but as it's midweek shouldn't be crazy. Got some bars lined up that shouldn't be full until late, hopefully the knobheads will keep away from the gay village, and there's always the hotel bar if things are dodgy. Not interested in the pier, arcades or the touristy stuff, might call at the nude beach and certainly take a train ride down the coast to where the more, er, senior tourists go during the day!!

Gawd I'm feeling my age.

Yeah if you avoid the sea front and pier you'll be fine. We went inland a bit and it was pretty quiet.

I felt a bit sad for the city as a whole though, it looked tired and dirty, things boarded up etc. Loads more homeless than usual as well. Also lots of shops still shut, especially in the Lanes...the little independent ones...you wonder if these will ever reopen. Going to take a lot of time for places to get back on their feet, same for many places around the UK I guess...

I live in Brighton and feel MUCH safer here in Ibiza than in Brighton last week.

We are due out next week and reading what the foreign office spokesman said seems that they don't fancy the idea of various countries trying to negotiate regional variations to FCO advise or quarantine so just sacked the whole thing off ... Whilst I have been firmly on the side of caution for the whole pandemic I felt August might be the best / safest time to get away before a tough autumn / winter at home and feel pretty gutted now ... I really cant see our October trip going ahead now either ?

Sadly we had to push the button on cancelling flights and accommodation yesterday for our planned stay starting this Thursday since a family situation with the quarentine and our dogs made it just too stressful to take a chance. Not due to the safety in Ibiza of course but just weighing up our own situation. Gutted but replaced with a weekend in London with >30 degrees will be interesting. Hoping to try again as now have some other dates from dog sitter for 14-20 Sep and will try to use flight vouchers which now total about £1k. ?
