Probably worth pointing out that it's not the whole of the UK that's opening pubs etc. Up here in Scotland it's still under review and we're still under travel restrictions to a 5 mile radius etc. - our Governments plan seems to be to use the English as guinea pigs to see how it all goes, if it's fine we'll get a pint as well. If it turns to sh!t it gives the SNP more to add to their independence drive.

Funny how they did a complete 180 up there. Scotland was the first to talk about easing restrictions then England eased theirs.

I threw both my shoes to the television....so the non-vulnerable young people can forget about their pop concerts and festivals, BUT the old vulnerable people.....(I'm generalizing I know, but classical music mostly attracts a certain group of people) actually can go to a event this summer.

Exactly. One attracts the kind of people who want to put a blanket down in a park 1.5 m away from another group. The other event full of people who will be working up a sweat, hugging, singing /yelling, on a crowded dance floor/pit. People who believe they are invulnerable and therefore do not maintain proper social distancing.

I have never seen a classical music performance that requires an on site medical station (despite older people generally being in poorer health). I've never seen lines 20+ people deep waiting to walk into a filthy portable toilet at a classical music concert.

You managed to focus on the only variable (age of attendee) that would be in favor of music festivals while glossing over all the reasons why a classical music performance is less likely to result in spreading of the virus.

whelp, if this is true I seriously doubt i'll able to get to Ibiza anytime soon...shit.

No surprise as I expected as much, with the EU allowed to travel internally, followed by select outside countries being added as situation warrants. I think we will get the go-ahead by mid/late-July. Also, some countries may break rank and allow non-EU tourists before others. The issue will be if airlines will have enough time to adapt and provide offerings after the "ok" is given. The front end of my flight in August was already cancelled about a week ago. I have a "back-up" airline that is not expensive (at least at the moment), but waiting for an official announcement before doing anything else.

Some real venomous comments after that article, BTW.

Yes but of course they’ve been alive longer so had more time to enjoy themselves!

Are you traveling on a Bahamanian passport or US? Definitely going to be an hassle flight wise if the restriction isn't lifted. I've seen that the ban may be retaliatory for the US's EU closure that's still in place. There's potential that both may be lifted, just have to wait and see how things shake out. SUPER annoying.

I only have a US passport at the moment. Currently living in the USVI which is part of the United States like Puerto Rico. Prior to all this, my wife was pulling paperwork required to get Italian citizenship. We will pick that up again once the pandemic quiets down.

Yes... things are a bit uncertain now with flights. I am looking forward to the (re)scheduling like a punch in the nuts...

Gotcha. For some reason I thought Bahamas, not USVI. I hear you on the flghts, frustrating as all hell.

If you get coronavirus in Scotland the midges will suck it out. That's why outdoor areas in pubs will open first. Although to be fair, if you're anywhere near Scourie and outdoors, you've no chance of getting CV due to everyone being covered head-to-foot to avoid (a) the cold and (b) the midges.
Mosquitoes only get you one at a time, this lot come down in thousands.

The Swiss are pushing forward. Looks like no fall out from the 300 person show, hopefully we see some other places follow.

I think if things go well this time it may well give some answers as to where the virus is at, in terms of how how powerful the virus is now and the dangers involved compared with the start of the year for Europe on the whole.
There is something very strange about this whole thing, you have doctors from Italy claiming it’s weakens and yet in Across the USA and South America it’s still running riot.
I for one and clinging onto some hope it’s might naturally fizzle out and if it does it would stand to reason Europe would be sooner than the the States. I know there is no science backing it up and it’s been argued about by people who know far more than me but here is to hoping! ??????????

apologies for the typo’s I’ve been out in the canoe this afternoon and on the beers ??

If you fancy taking the risk - flights to Ibiza from the UK are currently dirt cheap with Ryanair. If for whatever reason the 2 week quarantine on return hasn't been removed or can't travel for any other reason, you can move your flight free of charge, only having to pay the difference if there is one.
