There are no requirements by law for any pubs to follow guidelines, more or the government passing the responsibility to everyone else. Some of the local pubs in scummy places will be having opening parties with the places rammed and there is nothing anyone can do?.

Prem football 12:30pm-10pm on the day they open too.

Government briefings are no more also unless something is to be announced. We got Coronavirus done

Can we please stop discussing English/Irish/non-Balearic corona regulations in here? At a glance, it gets difficult to tell what is about the UK and what is about Ibiza, and frankly, as a German, I'm not too interested in the latest manifestations of incompetence of the British government, and I assume the same is the case for other non-British posters and lurkers ;)

Actually I like the UK members discussing how incompetent their government is, it makes me feel less lonely here in the states...

Yeah, imagine trying to keep the toilets "covid secure". You'll be lucky if they can hit the urinal ?

Dutch update

It was originally planned to let max visitors to any establishment (pubs, restaurants, movie theaters, terraces) grow from 30 to 100 on July 1st.
They have now decided that it's doable to let go of that maximum amount and if you keep 1.5 m distance there is no max. So the distance in square meters of your establishment is leading in how many visitors you can let in. Not counting clubs or festivals cause they are still closed and banned.

Now a journalist asked: What does this mean for events? The answer was: This is not a green light for pop concerts or festivals...but a classical concert in the park for more than 100 people is now doable.

I threw both my shoes to the television....so the non-vulnerable young people can forget about their pop concerts and festivals, BUT the old vulnerable people.....(I'm generalizing I know, but classical music mostly attracts a certain group of people) actually can go to a event this summer.

Im sure the politicians are now just playing with us.

Lol do NOT f*** around and piss off Gurkhas, they are some serious badasses. I was expecting to hear they had scooped out an eye and popped it in with their chow or something.

5 foot tall psychopathic maniacs if you rub them up the wrong way, but tremendously polite gentlemen when onside ?

What they did with the guys head afterwards is anyone’s guess ?‍♂️ it probably ended up in one of their famous curry’s, or got robbed of its ears to make a macabre necklace?

Could put a stop to Croatia 2020

We are sitting in the same boat. For me as a german its interesting to see whats up at other places and what other people think.
Lets see whats in 2 Months ...

Crafty move from Boris. He starts of by saying that the British People have to use their common sense and the advice the government give is now only ‘guidance’ and don’t fall under the Corona Legislation.

reduces the distance to 1 metre and opening pubs at the same time......That’s a recipe for disaster....

what it does do is give the government an out if there is a second wave/peak. They can say that when they lifted restrictions Corona was under control and because the people don’t use their ‘common sense’ the R number has gone back up. This will be backed up by the media (daily Mail) showing pictures of people in the park/beach/beer garden etc having a drink

That diverts the attention of the nation away from the shit show of the government. It will then be the fault of the ‘Covidiots’ (I f***ing hate that term BTW).

It has to be said that over 150K people protested over 2 weeks ago at BLM protests and there hasn’t been a spike in infections. I’m sure that’s the same worldwide? That surely shows that outside events this summer should be allowed to take a risk and go ahead, will save further job losses, re starts economy and gives the nation a lift!!!

All absolutely spot on. The 'put the onus on the public' has been the game ever since that crazy rambling 'stay in, dont stay in, go out, go to work' speech the other month.

And yes you are right that we havent seen a big spike in infections since either VE Day (the first time I really saw groups flout the rules) the bank holidays, the hot weather and the BLM prtoests...so yes you have to question why things can't return to normal.

I think the 'normal' flu season will be a challenge though, they will have to get the testing up to a great standard so that people can check if their symptoms are Corona or just normal flu, and at the same time of year people will go back indoors due to the weather.

How serious is that article?

Is Canada also targeted?
Think they are concerned with half the states having increasing cases, and some skyrocketing.

Just need a few asymptomatic/pre-symptomatic people on a plane to cause problems ?‍♂️ (look at New Zealand and those new cases from brits travelling there with borders actually closed etc)

Guidlines include only sitting indoors on a table with 5 others max and only 2 different households...no way that will happen!

Popular bars round here are taking pre booked time slots for next weekend with a max stay of 90 min:lol: f**k that

I knew I heard that and hadn't made it up! Can't see it been enforceable. Yes, we all live together... honest.

I'm going to be avoiding it all, most certainly for first few weeks, then might venture into beer gardens for my glass of lemonade ?

Yeah, I think I’ll give the battle cruiser a wide berth for now.

Apart from the obvious social distancing challenges and restrictions etc, all the usual dickheads round mine will be let loose in my local, after 3 months of lockdown ?

I can just imagine them on a sunny day boozing it up and a few cheeky lines of captain Columbia.

There are some unsavoury characters propping up bar in there.

Facial scars, criminal records, horrendous tattoos, snarling growling faces ? and this is only the women??‍♂️

Very sensible. The most I'd consider is an outdoor table at a restaurant with very well spaced out tables (i.e. well over 2m). Which means about 2 I can think of inside a 30 mile radius. After footing the bill at either I wouldn't be able to afford to eat out again for a month anyway

Probably worth pointing out that it's not the whole of the UK that's opening pubs etc. Up here in Scotland it's still under review and we're still under travel restrictions to a 5 mile radius etc. - our Governments plan seems to be to use the English as guinea pigs to see how it all goes, if it's fine we'll get a pint as well. If it turns to sh!t it gives the SNP more to add to their independence drive.

We are the same here in Wales! Welsh gov have also stated today they have no intention of change the social distance rules below 2m which means we won't have any hospitality opening up yet
I'll be driving over the border for a nice cold pint at this rate when our 5 mile travel limit gets scrapped in a couple of weeks haha
