Well I for one am gonna turn up, sit in the corner and see how it goes. Avoiding the first Saturday night though as much as I want the places to open having it on a Saturday is just gonna be carnage. maybe that's what the government want, a further outbreak to lock us all in again and say it's our fault. Can we stop with these negative posts please Stivi...we're all buzzing here in the UK now that pubs are opening!
Our local government always reopened things (beaches, restaurants, bars) on a Tuesday for that same reason.Avoiding the first Saturday night though as much as I want the places to open having it on a Saturday is just gonna be carnage
It's not less indoors etc, its the case of people touching all of the equipment, not cleaning it afterwards and therefore spreading their germs more than they would in a restaurant for example. Restaurants can stop people sitting at their tables until their cleaned between guests. It will take a hell of a lot more staffing / cleaners in gyms to ensure cleanliness surely?
i can't imagine the disaster for a tourist country such ibz, far less LESS tourists for sure but the numbers? 10% from ibz19 ?
I've actually got in better shape with my home weights. Just chicken legs hard to work out!?
My guess is 50% of 2019 numbers (August).
I will take your word for it.no way. gonna be less than half for sure
Then head to the Corona Virus - Ibiza updates thread. Or the German subforum? Can we please stop discussing English/Irish/non-Balearic corona regulations in here? At a glance, it gets difficult to tell what is about the UK and what is about Ibiza, and frankly, as a German, I'm not too interested in the latest manifestations of incompetence of the British government, and I assume the same is the case for other non-British posters and lurkers
Gotcha. That's definitely not something i'm accustomed to here in the states. No one wants or cares about anyone else's info like that (CC or SSN #s being about the only thing people would steal).I think you have hit the nail on the head there @MrHullMysterious
Of course, that's how it should work. But this is the UK licensing industry we're taking about. That just won't happen.

Lol do NOT f*** around and piss off Gurkhas, they are some serious badasses. I was expecting to hear they had scooped out an eye and popped it in with their chow or something.I think British people are always a bit wary of any sort of big brother type stuff, especially with regards to data protection these days. Everyone likes to think they are anonymous, but the reality is the govt know a lot about us already. More than we think.
They’ve certainly got my history logged in great detail.
Going forward I think we are going to get strong armed into accepting more of a track and trace type culture. The govt will say it’s the only way to get back to some form of ‘normal’.
We could see medical details included with biometric passports. Details of vaccinations and the like. Not entirely a bad thing for travellers, it would be much better than carrying random sheets of paper around airports for yellow fever jabs etc.
Thinking back about 10 years ago now, we carried retina scanners around Afghanistan with us. Amazing bits of kit when we took down high value targets that we needed to positively identify.
At the time I thought they would become more commonplace back in the UK, something similar to the ANPR system.
I know a lot of places these days use biometric devices like finger print scanners to gain access and log movements etc
Would take a massive effort to get everyone on board with this sort of stuff and I think a lot of people just wouldn’t accept it at all, they find it too obtrusive.
Funny little side story, some Gurkha soldiers got in trouble in Afghanistan with these retina scanners.
Unofficial story that filtered through to me was that they had took out a high value taliban commander. In order to confirm it, they had to prove it using the retina scanner.
Unfortunately the battery was flat and the only option was carrying the body back many miles.
A solution was found by hacking his head off with the infamous Kukri, carried by all Gurkha soldiers, and carrying it back to base in a sandbag so they could scan his retinas later once they’d charged up the scanner.
You can imagine the uproar this created ?
I thought it was a good example of thinking outside of the box.

I'll hold off with my DJ tennis jokes for nowit's what I was thinking
The UK PM when waffling through it all, I'm sure said should only be between 2 households indoors and mentioned indoors like pubs ? meaning sat at table with your household and max 1 other. It really isn’t gonna be a case of just rocking up to the pub for however long you want. Hungry Horse are launching an app on the 26th to book your place. I messaged our local one to see if you could only book for a certain amount of time and they confirmed that is the plan. I’m guessing that will be the case for all pubs for the foreseeable.
I think a lot will do with how busy the pub is. Once things settle down, those that are almost empty mid-week would be daft to kick you out after an hour...why would they turn away custom they have been waiting months for? Perhaps an app can GUARANTEE you a place for and hour, two hours etc and you get kicked out if it's full, but otherwise? It really isn’t gonna be a case of just rocking up to the pub for however long you want.
