We have three hotspots in Germany, one is a slaughterhouse with more than 1.000 infections within a few days (until last week we had about 300 new infections per day). The other two are housing blocks in Berlin & Göttingen (in quarantine). That should be the main result for the high R-rate. Let's hope that we'll have better number in the next days...

Does worryingly go to show how easily it can spread in the right environment.

They think slaughter houses seem to have lot of cases due to the cold environment letting the virus survive longer in the environment. Doesn't bode well for winter ?

+ bad conditions for the workers (especially for the foreign ones which often also have bad living conditions)
+ high volume = people shout at each other
+ assembly line work - hardly distance

Our drive for meat and animal products (and the way how we treat animals) is a problem in general. A lot of epidemics/pandemics are based on that reason - Corona, SARS, Swine Flu and many more would not exist if we did not eat animals...
 
Has there been any info released on whether the trial of the German tourists coming to Ibiza/Majorca has went well? I’ve not seen anything, so presume no news is good news?
 
Safe bet letting Germans visit first.. they own alot of property there, don't mix with other and usually eat and drink at home...
 
While nightlife is shut (can't see it back without vaccine) in Paris, they have allowed this event last day, in paris thinking people will keep social distancing :eek:
Maybe it was supposed to be a gathering with people sitting but it didnt hapen like this, i know a few still want to party but for now but there are still some social distancing to respect. 10 people gathering max, 1 meter distance...
WTF our government is doing? its like the protests along last weeks

Germany has a R rate of 2.9! Another lockdown for them is pretty much imminent now.

I wouldn’t say it’s imminent. It very much depends on how well they can contain the outbreak.

The lower number of overall cases you have, the less important, or less of an impact the R number has.

It’s how well the outbreaks are dealth with that what will dictate what action will be taken.

It’s unrealistic think any country will “lockdown” due to a rise of a few hundred cases in one area. It’s for this exact senario that test, track and trace is of the utmost importance.

UK still seems hopelessly inept and inexperienced as far as test, track and trace is concerned. Also just cannot see people with mild symptoms coming forward (especially younger ones) when they know it means a 2-week lockdown in the middle of Summer.

(UK) Sounds like customers will have to leave their e-mail addy and telephone number at the pub door as they enter. That's so if there's an outbreak you can be traced and asked to self-isolate.
That's fine by me, but there may have to be a secret way to inform the punters that they have been somewhere there's an outbreak, for example I know in the Village in Manchester there are some gentlemen who don't particularly want their wives to know where they are.... so they will they stop going or a secret method of informing them found?
 
Just watch TV and looks like there were lot of events with people partying in the street :eek: on Music day.it was out of countrol .
youth + booze=they loosen up and f*** the covid 19, let's rave! ?
if governments didnt allow those events , no mass gathering, Keep it simple as stupid

Imagine in ibz , how staff will control young people on booze (and drugs ) in aeras (plastik, Itaca, ibiza rocks, bora bora beach bar...) with djs, at the beginning ,people with their pack keeping social distance, at the end ,after more drinks,No more rules! ?
Without police in any bar, people Will forget/won't follow the rules.

To clarify the 'GERMAN R RATE RISES TO 3' stories. It's already been said that when the amount of infections is so low that r rate is effectively pointless. It only becomes a problem with exponential growth, but this is why the tracing of people is in place. If over the case of a few days only 10 people had it to start and it went down to 1 person, the r rate may have been 0.3, but then that 1 person passes it to 3 people and suddenly the r rate is 3 again.

Here's the raw data with actual cases. To clarify further they seem to have a big outbreak in an abattoir there. They've tested half of their 6,500+ workforce and found more than 1,000 positives, by the time they've tested everybody that number will likely increase. Everybody working there, and their households, is quarantined. Looks as though lots of Romanian and Bulgarian workers living on top of one another in dorms is an aggravating factor, on top of meat processing places seemingly being high risk environments.

A lot of this talk of second waves is mental when they have a slight rise in cases, like in South Korea the media have reported they are in the midst of a second wave, as shown below. I mean, it's a rise in cases but it can clearly be controlled and not what anyone would class as a second wave. I'd love it if our second wave of cases was less than 100 cases a day. Or as above a 'massive spike in cases' like in Germany is actually less positives than we currently are having a day.

Breaking the rules in order to get more cash is tempting
