I like the HardTours coment on the "Ibiza Closing" articles that now pop-up everywhere.

"
- Please understand the Spanish article which had been the source of negative rumours (and stemmed to other articles) has a sensational headline but the quotes are just one politician's view. Not the government's ruling. The article goes on to mention this !

- Two venues (which we don't use anyway) have thrown in the towel, whom believe it is not cost effective for them to open. All the venues we are hosting nights in have today told us its business as usual.

- We are still looking forward to Ibiza Goes Hard 2020. Any news to the contrary we will post of course."

'Not cost effective' at those bar prices ? How much money do they have to make? €€€

So basically the Irish government are forcing anyone who wants a pint to fork out e9,- for a meal they don't want and have only 90 minutes to enjoy their drinks?

And I thought our lot were barmy.

Why is all the news today so bleak! Matching the weather in the UK. How can they possibly police the time people are spending in pubs...that is the most ridiculous idea I've heard so far I think...what difference does the length of time make? Social distancing yeah...i can understand...
Is the 90 minutes thing more so that everybody gets a chance to enjoy the pub rather than people being there for hours and others not being allowed in until they leave? Just a thought.

Yeah the local radio stations are comedy gold in the morning.. alot of places do soup and a sandwich at lunch for €6.50 now they have to put it up to €9 if someone wants a pint and not tap water...lol.

Pubs that don't serve food are opening July 20th. So we have a few weeks to see how the gastro pubs do..... My friends own the pub near my house they are in no rush yet to open.. lucky that they only have one full time staff who is the manager rest of the staff are family.. but some smaller places will never open ☹️

So we've spent three months developing a test/trace app which is useless when they could have used the one the rest of the world was using and we might have been out of lockdown earlier.

Ah well, at least we don't have to worry about this UK government leaving the world's biggest trading block shortly and having to cobble together trade deals or anything.

Tbf from a technical point of view (I am a developer) any user app wouldn't really work unless the person had their phone open on the app. Both OSes throttle back apps in the background and eventually put them to sleep.

It does seem they developed a better distance calculator for bluetooth signals (if you're inside a metal box like a train the signal will be different than in a shop etc)

The apple-Google app uses some new OS level functionality so doesn't suffer from the going to sleep thing, but its distance calculator is not great so probs lot of false positives which is bad if told to stay in for 2 weeks.

The problem is privacy, if they used the gps functionality then lots of the above issues go away and much more reliable to know if was in proximity to someone one. But not great for individuals as their exact whereabouts are potentially known to the government.

They on about trying to merge best bits of both which might work. Testing it on all the diff types and specs of phones ain't gonna be that easy.

Maybe easier for everyone to have little bundled of tickets with unique number on it and hand them out to peeps your are close to ?

Should also add to that the reason the uk app probably more accurate is that it will be running bluetooth in high power mode (like when you in discover now devices mode vs low power playing music to headphones mode)

But the OSes only allow that for foreground open app otherwise you'll rinse that battery.

So actually bluetooth low power Google-apple app = low accuracy but running all time

UK app bluetooth high power mode = high accuracy but have to walk about with app open on phone ??‍♂️

A load of the phones out there won't last a day with bluetooth running on an app in high power mode.... and oh yes - they decided years ago to seal in batteries so they can't be replaced. Power packs for everyone ? Hmmm ....
