I've gotta wonder if opening at low capacity actually burns more cash than staying entirely closed for some of the super sized venues. I also wonder if a place like Ushuaia or Ibiza Rocks might be able to use the balcony rooms to their advantage as built in social distancing / VIP.
If you dont pay high DJ fees it's possible to make money with not that much costumers. Bars and clubs are not like restaurants, they dont suffer waste in the products they are selling. Let's hope this crisis will lower DJ fees, so clubbing can come back to it's original roots (less VIP, less over crowded, less snobery, less high price tickets, less high price alcohol, but more true essence of partying, love of techno, meet new girls and, at the end, get laid the following week).

I only had one trip a a single person to Ibiza, back in '03. Nothing I want to discuss around polite company, even as an anonymous internet avatar.

Poor kids today. Can't even breathe on each other!
At least you had that! I've never been to Ibiza!

I had a trip booked in '12 and literally the day before I was going to pull the trigger and book my company laid everyone off. I made the incredibly stupid decision to be financially prudent and save the money and go back to school. Met my wife a year later, kid, career, etc. and never made it happen. UNTIL THIS YEAR. I booked everything for me and my friend back in Nov. We were landing on the 4th of July for a week.

Eff you Covid.

Its always an terrible financial decision, especially for us on this side the planet. It can still be fun to go with the wife. Go for it!

Hell, I take my kids...

Oh for sure! I'm 90% sure I'm going to book the end of August this year. Just waiting to see how things shake out the first couple weeks of July before I finalize.

That what I'm thinking/hoping. Like for example take a random night in Ushuaia last summer:

BIG by David Guetta
Mon 15 Jul 17:00 - 23:00
David Guetta
The Chainsmokers
Jonas Blue
Lovra

The total appearance fees for that crowd must have been from €500k-€1m? If they were all replaced with local/small time acts that cost 1/10th as much or less, that would mean a lot fewer punters required in the door to break even.

Pending what rules the Spanish government decides to enforce anyway. But they seem to be moving in a very positive direction, for outdoor events especially.

the only way ushuaia club could open following the restrictions in ibz, is the club, opening without dancefloors but just the place filled with tables .
add some local djs on lineup ? Doable

it wont work , ive done many ibz events with local djs to support them along summer and closing and it was empty as f***, mass people(EDM or Techno , no hard feelings guyz!) used to go to ushuaia/big clubs for big names and they are really not ready to go to an event with "unknown dj"

add the fact i got my ushuaia closing ticket refunded and my 16 hi tickets refunded + solomun closing pacha ibz refunded, i can't see ushuaia+ hi ibz + Pacha ibz open this year (No comment with amnesia, eden octan Privilege )
An organizer event always refund tickets last week b4 the event get cancelled, never months ago, unless he knows it won't happen

Some outdoors aeras are opened with djs, don't expect big names and more chill out vibes with people sitting on a chair

eg an event ill go for sure if in ibz, only 1 name i know along my contact on the lineup, sat on a chair sipping drinks
