it wont work , ive done many ibz events with local djs to support them along summer and closing and it was empty as f***,

That's when people have a choice. Of course they cannot charge the same sort of prices for drinks etc. but if there are only a tiny handful of places open then it's not like a typical Summer and people would still probably go along. Nobody after big name DJs is going to be clubbing this Summer unless it's in somewhere like Serbia or Ukraine

That what I'm thinking/hoping. Like for example take a random night in Ushuaia last summer:

BIG by David Guetta
Mon 15 Jul 17:00 - 23:00
David Guetta
The Chainsmokers
Jonas Blue
Lovra

The total appearance fees for that crowd must have been from €500k-€1m? If they were all replaced with local/small time acts that cost 1/10th as much or less, that would mean a lot fewer punters required in the door to break even.

Pending what rules the Spanish government decides to enforce anyway. But they seem to be moving in a very positive direction, for outdoor events especially.
Are they d.j's?

it wont work , ive done many ibz events with local djs to support them along summer and closing and it was empty as f***, mass people(EDM or Techno , no hard feelings guyz!) used to go to ushuaia/big clubs for big names and they are really not ready to go to an event with "unknown dj"

So in a normal summer I'd agree. The "DJ Arms Race" between the clubs to get the big name commercial DJs is because they're all desperately trying to out compete each other to get the punters in. And because the clubs mostly have such a massive capacity these days they need to appeal to as many people as possible, which is why they need the big names.

But if the vast majority of venues are closed this summer, and if the few remaining outdoor venues can only operate at partial capacity anyway, then the financial/marketing equation changes a lot. Not much point in paying a headliner like Guetta €300k a night in the hopes he brings in 7k people if your club can only hold 2k because of restrictions. And not much need to have a more famous DJ than your competitors if they're closed...

Spain gearing up to reopen borders with tech/scanning solutions

My concern is they're relying on people to behave responsibly but this seems incredibly naive to me... tourists to Spain include some of the least responsible people on earth, so really it is just a gamble

I wonder with what rules / measures? any? none? anyone know?

I can't find anything on Google mentioning any restrictions for Croatian nightlife going forwards at all, so maybe not? Everything just seems to state that the previous restrictions have now been lifted. Open to correction on that if we have any locals here though.

All of the big Ibiza-style mega-clubs seem to be announcing openings too, not just Carpe Diem. ie another one here, Papaya Club in Zrce: -- so it doesn't appear to just be beach club/day club settings.

Most of it looked outdoors when we visited Hvar. The club wasn't open as it was early May but was a nice setting, outside on a tiny island 5 mins from Hvar.

Couple of nice beach bars, one on next little island called Laganini was also good. Be interesting to see how many tourist get out to these places in the current climate.

Thinkkng about it, the only way to get to the beach club is by private boat or boat shuttle - bit of risk there.

They just need to look like they're being strict with the situation. "Walk through the body scanner, sir. Yep fine, go on ahead"

Hi guys,I am from Croatia, the clubs here reopened 2 weeks ago almost without measures(if there are some measures, the clubs do not stick to them).
From the packed events in last 2 weeks:

Yes,Carpe Diem in Hvar is outdoor venue but,I guess it will be almost empty as there are no tourists yet.

This is from biggest football derby in Serbia played 2 days ago with full capacity of the stadium:

Here people stopped adhering to any measures week or two after leaving the houses.

Wow. I can see a lot of searches for flights to Croatia this afternoon....

The virus made it's way around the world in the way it did, I cant see the lockdowns effectively stopping alot of us being exposed to it once its reached our areas in which we live, surely most the world should of had it pass through them by now? Even those who have taken most precautions throughout still have handled food packaging and other various day to day items in which they could of picked it up

No wonder places are thinking the time for normality returning is now without half measures

I think you are right, a few weeks ago there were areas of the UK that were hardly affected (like south west, Cornwall etc), the locals were coming out saying stuff like 'don't come down here, we don't want your virus'. While London was the worst hit area in the country to start with. Now London has not any deaths for a few days, it seems to have passed through as you say...while the south west is currently the most affected area!

It is encouraging to think it is 'passing through' though...let's hope so...unfortunately I'm not sure how this bodes for tourist places (like Ibiza). Who have not really been hit that badly...
