Have a wife, no kids, and will need a change of scenery after being locked in my apt for months. Of course the virus could flare up and I could get trapped, but I would be ok being trapped in Spain.
I hear ya. I've been working from home for the past 2 months while taking care of a toddler while my wife goes to work. I can't think of too many places I'd rather be trapped in than Spain! I'm just allowing myself to realize that my trip there is going to be canceled :-(

The answer is complicated. The quick version is, if the company is bankrupt and has no money, there is no money for the credit card to chargeback to you. Generally the credit card issuer is not eating the cost to refund you.

The long version is it depends on the bankruptcy laws and the structure of the debt. Its possible another company would be willing to acquire the company (and its debt to you). Its possible they could liquidate the company and sell off the assets to settle the debts. Creditors have different priority in terms of who gets paid first, and if you were to receive any compensation it is likely pennies on the dollar.
Flybe went bankrupt, but still got my money back via cashback. No issues whatsoever.

If I’m going to be working from home all summer, I’m thinking about “moving” to Ibiza for September. Is this a bad idea or a great idea?
Every time I tried mixing vacation with work, I neither did enough work in the end, nor did I enjoy the destination as much as expected to.

So it would be a bad idea for me personally. But if you are more focused than I am and can afford it - why not? You will never know if it works for you unless you try it out. Traveling for fun while teleworking on the road works just fine for some people.

Is the wife pressing you for it so that she can enjoy Ibiza while the breadwinner husband spends the whole time working? :p

Just to keep the balance seeing as the uk government are getting slagged off so much at the moment. (Rightly so at times) What’s everyone’s view on the furlough extension? Surprisingly no one’s mentioned it on here since it was announced yesterday I thought I’d mention it. I think it’s the right thing to do although very concerned about the future of our economy even more.

Yeah fair play to them. Can apply for my grant today aswell being self employed its a great help.

I think all governments have made mistakes during this pandemic not just ours.

Even though it's been extended till october surely if many industries are back in July then there shouldn't be a great deal of sectors left relying on it.. might be down to nightlife / entertainment/ sports which depend on higher capacity punters ..I personally think it's a good idea to help people cope easier through a very uncertain time but agreed the jump in tax following this is going to be silly

Our mate Big Willy P coming home 2yrs ago he couldn't open the locks on his record box with the sweat dripping into his eyes. Security pulled him out saying Open open. He couldn't read the combination on the little locks..lol he said to the guard I'll tell you the code I just can't see it... They were having non of it and just cut the locks off.. lol

Missus and I have thought about this. Mulled over Dubai, where we have a place or Ibiza. We’ve decided against both, as although we assume we have immunity after she was ill, we don’t know that for sure. We also don’t know if immunity will last. So, we’d rather be in central London with plenty of free hospitals rather than either being bankrupted by one in UAE or needing to use an Ibizan one. It’s not really fair going and living in Ibiza for weeks, as it seems a bit Gordon Ramsey-ish with him trotting off to Cornwall although he doesn’t normally live there.
