erm...so what would you suggest? I'm not sure I understand it correctly but is your approach that public transport should stay shut until covid has gone?
Yes, exactly. As per London, travel should be for essential reasons only. The “R” number is still far too high in Western Europe right now for public transport.

As to masks, the science isn’t really there to say they do that much. I see people all the time here in London wearing masks incorrectly, e.g. touching their faces with their masks, masks around their necks, and even smoking while wearing them etc.

Imagine droplets with covid infection landing on someone’s mask, there’s no guarantee that those droplets won’t get touched and then with low hygiene levels ingested anyway. People aren’t trained in the usage of PPE and it shows.

Hope he's ok
Me too. It's his 30th on Wednesday. Planned outing to Amsterdam or something obv not happening. Think they plan to send him home after giving him oxygen and antibiotics and that. Shall see.

He basically started with mild symptoms last friday and every day it got harder to breathe. Said felt like snot from a cold in your lungs. Secondary infections are a big risk. NHS 111 basically just say if feel you need to go to hospital call 999, which is a bit shit as most people try and solider on, not wanting to take up a&e space. Then leave it too late like my other mates mum did. She waited 3 days, paramedics said shouldn't have?‍♂️?‍♂️?

In south korea there is a problem in a nightclub : 15 Infected.
The gouverment told the people not to go to this places.
I think , this will seen in other countrys and
will have impact of their decisions : Clubs are not save at this times.
This is the big worry for Ibiza i think. If the clubs open and people arrive from all over the world, the chances of an outbreak would be high. Social distancing rules would be very hard to enforce and an outbreak would become a real possibility.
A potential club based outbreak way not necessarily kill any of those affected, but the rapid nature or the way covid spreads would definitely put the older and some more vulnerable island residents at risk.
There would also be the logistical nightmare of quarantining potentially thousands of people and getting them off the island.
I think something like this would hurt the island even more in the long term.
In the plus side i think, beach bars and other outdoor spaces could well offer some kind of tourist season until this thing comes to an end.

The bouncers have enough trouble normally getting gurning idiots to move ?. How gonna enforce 2m rule at bars? Have 2m squares drawn on dance floor. Must stay in centre of your box??‍♂️

Let's face it, big events like that not happening until vaccine or therapeutic, even outdoor events. The young might not care but staff etc be at risk.

Yeah

15 is much ( more than the rest of thewhole country ) . Similar numbers to the berlin event and ischgl. Seems to be , that those gatherings are one of the main spreading events ( Clubs , Concerts , Stadium ) ?
Lets see what they do...

So this guy from the article is moaning about not being able to work for just one week to earn enough money for a whole year, like he did in years past. Are we supposed to feel for him? Some reality check would be in order, methinks.

“The concierge guys are bricking it. One of my friends has this group from Kazakhstan. They’ll come and spend about €300,000 in a week and that one job covers him for the year,” he says.

I'd like to see them do a day's manual work for minimum wage. Learned to live off leeching excess.

Bank Holiday, VE day, deaths rising, confirmed cases not falling....step forward Our Great Leader to appear on TV to reassure us all and answer all those difficult questions.

Oh, no, sorry, it's Boris and he's still in a fridge so he sends in a third XI player to bat on his behalf.

I'm in London so i haven't seen anything here, other than parks full and definitely not in small household groups (Plenty of groups of 6-10).
Elsewhere people i know and twitter etc is reporting plenty of local pubs are open, people in the gardens that are full, street parties with people sharing foods, popping in to other people's houses etc. If brexit didn't tell you, our general public are thick as f***ing shit, only topped by the US but we're starting to push them close. I hope anyone that has been along to any of these and passes it on dies themselves ? .

It's why the incidence isn't falling fast in UK. People won't stop with the social gatherings and the fines are not a deterrent.Zero self control in this country I have never seen so much stopping and chatting going on even in a small village where I live - maybe I'm just an antisocial git but FFS can you not even go a few weeks without having to bl**dy well talk to people face to face ? There are phones and skype really is zero need.

which is why the so strict spanish approach maybe wasn't such a bad idea in the end...?

I moved to London because i love the level of antisocial acceptance where I can be in a bar chatting one day but the next day i will blatently ignore you in the street if you say hi .

The main problem even with the socially distant parties going on. It's guaranteed that people will go and play with the kids, or hug goodbye etc at least once, they're too stupid to stick to the rules because nothing is relevant to them. For example where i am we have clapham common which is a big open space and technically sunbathing would be fine because nobody would be near eachother, however if you tell everyone it's ok they will be taking it a step further and meeting mates in the park.

Is everyone taking advantage of Zoom etc?

I'm a big pub quiz man and i absolutely love it but none of my friends do them at all, my housemates however are literally doing 2/3/4 a week. Me and my friends have also never been callers so we haven't had any calls since this started. I have had one video call since lockdown started and that was with some girls i know from Ibiza ?

The lockdown in the UK had turned into a farce. Either lock it down properly or relax it formally, we’re stuck in this ridiculous limbo where people are pushing the limits further and further every day hence the continuing high numbers of deaths, really frustrating.

They just need to enforce the rules that exist no need to lock people in their houses especially in rural areas. But there is no backup in UK and zero respect for authority. Basically, unless the little twats with their mates in the park know they can be given a good kicking by the cops (instead of stealing the cop's bike and taunting him on social media) they won't do as they are told. That's the root of the issue. I don't think the Spanish model is right and I wouldn't have abided by such rules personally if someone had tried to impose that regime on me as a "sensible" citizen - would have made a mission of getting away with getting round the rules, so that's not the right way either !!
