also just seen the latest numbers in spain, incredibly positive signs coming our way. try not to get euphoric as it's monday which means it's the sunday night recount so tomorrow's figures will be the important ones but still, if we took a snapshot of the past few days, the curve of newly infected people is going rapidly down now and the newly recovered is going up just as rapidly.

I'll update the other thread once I have all ibiza detail numbers too. but just so much - no newly detected case in the entire balearics in the last 24hrs (which obviously also means none here in ibiza).

This story is amazing. Argentinian guy arrested for attempted murder of cop in Talamanca (by drowning!)

Purely for getting told off for breaking his curfew

yeah seen this yesterday. such a stupid act, everyone knows you can't go sunbathe/swim yet, and then you try to argue and attack the copper? tsss.

Something I was talking to a friend last night about,he works in my local bar. Saying if they do open trying to manage the toilets alone will be impossible for social distancing lol and the clean up at closingvwill be like something out of CSI.. when all staff will just want to go home after what will surely be such a head wreck of a night..

Heard of the second male suicide within 2 weeks from my hometown last night - both mid 30s to 40s.

Not folk I was close to at all. One a lad I knew when I was younger, one I knows partner.

I wonder how much the impact of the lockdown will be having over all on this problem.

Thing is that in prison people can be put on suicide watch. In lockdown or house arrest they can't !! I guess from the Government's point of view this will help weed out those who can't deal with being locked up and confined. Then on the other side the pensions and social care bill will be hammered a bit to help pay the costs. So you end up with fewer problem cases and dodge some of the thorny ethical issues surrounding euthenasia. No doubt some civil servants seeing silver linings in the back office !

Not bad for somewhere close to China..

If there was really a will to stop this thing from the outset in UK/Europe countries could have done the same. Politicians held out until they realized there was no escaping the fallout - they gambled there would be a way to avoid the economic costs of early lockdown and control and lost big for everyone.

didnt thought that this crisis will affect business industry linked to my job quickly even it sounded obvious
because of loss of money ,companies reduces their budget meaning less people in IT teams, my bro told me that 4 of his colleagues have their mission ending end may (in IT delivery services it means they have no more customers but still paid by company in the wait for new customer)
in my team, i have no worries as im the 1rst hired by my customer among 5 people , i just fear for the 2 lastest colleagues hired since sept 19 as they may have their mission shortened such ending end june & if so ,they could in add be fired by company as on their trial period, hope for them customer wont cut their IT budget.

i can fear the worse for other business industry more targeted by this crisis: tourist/entertainment/restaurant /bars/transport(planes/train) business

Without being an economic expert about ibiza i can guess ibiza depends a lot on tourist industry so the they will be hit harder than non tourist countries.(we were told to support our tourist business in spending holidays inside country and not outside when things will get back to normal)

im supposed to be back to office on may 11th because of lockdown ending but i ll avoid to go to headquarter office as it requires to takes train(nightmare issue for government with crowded train/metro as social distancing will not be maintained) and goes to branch office by car as very closed , where im alone in a 4 people office and no need to wear a mask as its required in train metro ,u can be fined if not wearing a mask.
i don't know how colleagues will manage the job in headquarter office (thousand of people) in an big open space, and if required to go back to headquarter office i won't eat at company restaurant for sure so its a NO GO for sure to any restaurants/public places (unless u dont have choice eg Office job site and supermarkets) until vaccine is found.

i havent watched the news for 2 weeks as people are really in the unknown and it's quiet depressing listening to same news day by day.
..Switching of TV Radio is the answer except some watch about new government decrees/measures.

I have a feeling - and I really hope I'm wrong - that when we emerge into the daylight we will find a lot of lonely people who haven't got close friends will be lying dead in their houses and flats. Example, as CV occured before I had got my social life going again after the death of the person I was caring for > if I died a natural death today, it could be weeks/months before someone realises the grass hasn't been cut or an email hasn't been answered and starts to investigate. Add to that those who might have been depressed enough that they can't get out/have no contact may well have ended it all themselves.

I do believe prisoners are getting a better deal than those alone without close family/friends. At least they are being watched.

Not sure why toilets should be a problem - capacity inside the pub should be reduced so less demand, and everyone uses the individual cubicles rather than the urinals. My local just has two cubicles for joint use and no urinals.

Mind you, if there are 4 urinals and Bloke A goes to No1; you can guarantee your favourite aqua shoes that the next bloke will go to No4!!

There is a very real risk of this every additional week that passes. I know some older people are regularly going through their address books and phoning everyone they know to make sure they are still there and OK right now. People will divide largely into two camps - those who have adjusted to their new life and basically accepted things, and those who are clinging on by their fingernails mentally, with every additional extension dramatically increasing the risk of them letting go. It is the latter category we need to be most concerned about right now.

Thanks for today's figures Stivi, excellent news!
Wonder if all the new cases are "mild" whether that's because the virus is diluting (can't think of a medical term for it) so - I dunno - there's not as much of it entering the body so our defences can cope better? It's not a case of people hiding away not getting it - clearly people are but those cases are now less severe.

Hey all sorry if I have missed this somewhere along the line but reading this on the site of the hotel I am arranged with in July I thought was interesting and maybe it hasn't been picked up yet

'Please be informed that Ibiza is going to extend the season this summer and we will be open until the 2nd of November. Clubs are extending their closing parties, restaurants and beach clubs will be open longer and the island is awaiting anxiously to offer the best vacation to all our visitors.'

My friends got this email as well, from one of the concept hotels. fingers crossed their optimism pays off!

this is what I did hear indeed yeah. that it matters massively 'how much' of the virus you catch. I'm sure some of the people on here that actually work in the field can put it in better words, but the 'viral charge' (amount you get) seems to be a very important detail. that can also be one of the reasons as to why completely healthy health care workers died here in spain - at the start of the pandemic they didn't have enough / the right PPEs and they were exposed to massive amounts of that virus.

and even if we still have no proper proof of that, I do think the sun helps us massively here. all the sunnier regions in spain have been hit far less than the rest.

while this is certainly a possibility (one we've mentioned on here a while ago already), nothing of that is confirmed yet. while that hotel may well stay open until 2nd november, right now we still have no certainty at all in regards to the clubs. I personally am hopeful, but it's simply nothing confirmed yet so I'd take this statement with caution.
