I still find the idea of bars / clubs at reduced capacity odd. Because there is no way social distancing can or will happen in those kinds of environments.

If 50% capacity, you can't tell me everyone is going to be spaced out on a dance floor
It won't happen. You can't even buy someone a drink ffs.. or hi 5 the DJ. There will be no connection with DJ and the dancefloor.. people will just had to forget about it... .. only the DJ in the booth Wil be welcome sight though.... and some DJs won't like that for sure

Agreed but it's a political stunt to show that something is being done. A cough can travel 6-8 feet in most situations and 16 feet in the extreme. Particles themselves can linger in the air for a long time due to air conditioners and such.

At what point would you rebel? This is a serious question.

I not sure if I agree with the protesters, but the contrarian in me worries when everyone is on the same page. I think it's healthy (no pun intended).
I would choose to not rebel at all. I'm very establishmentarian.

Doing a U-turn here. I think over the course of the last 4 weeks Matt Hancock has improved tenfold in front of camera

It's an incredibly low bar admittedly, but he seems the most honest and empathetic in the cabinet. Maybe he's just playing the part well?

I get impression he is pretty clued up about his department and what actually needs doing, but a lot of the time is having to toe the party/gov line.

Iirc he also mentioned in one briefing he has lost friends to covid.

Dominic Raab on the other hand seems like one of those chat bots on internet. Tries hard but no cigar ?

Dunno if this has been covered in the clubbing pages, but if the clubs are shut for the rest of the year, will you still go to Ibiza if you can?

I’m not booked - but I did have a pretty non clubbing holiday in Ibiza last year and really enjoyed it - so if permitted I’d defo book to make up for lost holidays now

In Ireland it looks like it's the middle of August when the bars will be open. I hope Vardaker can change that to sooner if tracking/drugs etc works.

I typically only make it out 1x per week (if lucky), so nothing changes for me. Looking to bun up my airline/hotel credits in Sept/Oct for 4 weeks.

It takes all types to make the world go round.

I have my own personal red-lines. If crossed, I could become activist, scofflaw or vote with my feet. Fortunately where I live there has not been a significant lock-down. I am ok with a well defined quarantine procedure, not so big on lock-downs for general public.
