Amnesia cancelling all events for May AND June ?!
Anyone else completely confused by the usage of these phases? I’m pretty well educated but they baffle me. Only a few weeks ago, were told phase 1 was contact tracing positive cases and phase 2 was in effect the lock down we’re currently in. Phase 3 would be flattening the curve and returning to normal. Yet somehow a completely new set of phases seem to have been created. Utterly baffling and straight from the Dom Cummings’ playbook. It seems the old phase 1 has been erased by the government as it’s inconvenient to draw attention to how quickly they canned the proper public health contact tracing.Positive (all things considered) daily briefing from UK government today. We're getting our phase 2 and beyond plan laid out next week, when our lockdown measures were due for review anyway
Restarting the economy is a part of that. Cautious optimism
Seems like by some miracle we'll also hit 100,000 tests per day or close enough by tomorrow. It seemed unlikely just a few days ago

Looks like one..Sprry for that : You can give
Is it a microphone , down Right?
I agree.. Spain are doing a good job of being cautious and releasing things slowlyThis is annoying me too. As you guys know...I've been in camp 'open up' for a long time. I can only speak for the Netherlands, but there are really smart people saying smart things about how to open up. But it's always the people that shout the dumbest things hard enough that get media attention. The lockdowns require a smart exit strategy, with some sort of social distancing (I'm not convinced it will work in every situation), facemasks and certain hygiene precautions. Enough scientist have plans what to do....its frustrating governments don't seem to pay attention to them and keep listening to medical experts only. That time has passed. We need to move on and listen to different expertises. Spain is giving the rest of Europe a great example If you'd ask me.
I think the problem is, those that have it but don't know can pass it on to others, especially the most vunerable. We stopped public smoking as it was proved to affect the health of others in their vicinity, so there is history.
But that could mean we have to stay in lockdown for ever and beyond until a vaccine is proved. Which is, of course, complete nonsense.
So is the way to go to allow people out with a "pass" and if they don't respect distancing, whether it be a shop, pub, pavement etc, remove that pass for a length of time - and if they repeat offend then jail them??
But to me that would be acceptable if more places were open so the carrot - a bit of normality - is worth the stick.
Right now it's just sitting around...sitting around...sitting around as the world begins to open up around us yet here the government is clueless.
Ask yourself why they aren't in agreement? Has anything really changed, or are people just reaching their breaking point? I myself have noticed some days I am more susceptible to the arguments of the re-open crowd, but its not because they are suddenly making a compelling argument. Its just for one reason or another I am fed up with lockdown and looking for a reason to believe this will be over soon.
Narrator: It won't be over soon
It has been my experience that the re-open crowd is also the most opposed to social distancing and mask wearing when re-open does occur, which i find to be counter intuitive. It seems they should be arguing for all of the social distancing as a way to make society safe enough to re-open. It is the disconnect between wanting to re-open urgently, but the absence of plan to do it in a way that is safe AND sustainable that brings me back to reality.
Edited to add: For context I am in US, where the protesters are as much anti-government as they are re-open so they reject government restriction even when the stay at home orders are lifted.
Precisely... You both have an excellent perspective on this. I particularly agree with the sentiment that protesters are blindly rebellious against any form of order claiming it's oppression. What a load...
Something quite ironic about this. Didn't seem to care for the health and safety of it's punters when cramming god knows how many over capacity in like sardines.
it could definitely make for better clubbing if they were to have to start considering selling less tickets now, for instance resistance closing last year was beyond unenjoyable and for the biggest club in the world to reach that level it shows things weren't ok beforeSomething quite ironic about this. Although that being said I would prefer to be a sardine in the club rather than social distancing outside of one …

Plus when people are wasted, they always respect your personal space!?I still find the idea of bars / clubs at reduced capacity odd. Because there is no way social distancing can or will happen in those kinds of environments.
If 50% capacity, you can't tell me everyone is going to be spaced out on a dance floor
