ok so...

@2H76 - of course the clubbing industry evolves and has its ups and downs, but it's the first time in my life (probably yours too) where at least 80% of all nightclubs globally are SHUT.

@SeoulSaint - correct, anything 'entertainment' is foooked and it'll be one of the last bits that will get going again and that is my personal grief of course. and while I'm not a fan of nowadays' david guetta, he keeps on being an entry point into electronic music (as in people who then a few years later discover the good stuff) and same as some of the techno big names, he's done a lot for this scene over the past two decades, like it or not. he even used to play decent daytime sets on the old openair space sunset terrace, I caught some of them too. I'm curious as to how ibiza will change after this pandemic, personally I'm hoping on more togetherness and less two tier society, but I have my doubts. spotlight will survive, but it's gonna be a tough time and I don't think I'm surprising anyone with that.

@cunninghamali - as said above, tourism and entertainment/culture are two sectors that will recover last. I don't know what jobs you guys have and I'm sure that almost all members of this forum are currently affected by this pandemic somehow, but if I had to take a guess I would say that once we're through the worst, a lot of your professional careers will continue pretty quickly. whereas here on ibiza, it currently looks as though we just have to somehow survive an entire year with no business coming in. don't get me wrong, I know millions of people are in the same boat as we are.

also, re dc10 etc... two things. on the DJ front: yes it's true that artists get paid less for a gig at dc10 than they would elsewhere. in the case of the biggest names, the difference in fee is massive compared to a gig elsewhere, but for the carolas, solomuns and svens of this world it's just cool to play dc10 once a year and thus they accept a low fee. on the other hand, for the mid range DJs playing dc10, those gigs will secure them lots of gigs elsewhere throughout the year. every 'underground' DJ wants to have a few dc10 gigs on their CV, it will guarantee future gigs and thus it's more an investment rather than anything else. it's the same with berghain, if I'm not mistaken they also pay far lower fees than other venues (berlin venues generally don't pay huge fees from what I know).

the second thing isn't the DJs, but all the staff surrounded by them. if a DJ is clever enough, he'll have made enough savings to get through a year. but now think about all the club staff, promoters, agents, press people, media etc. if you look at the industry overall, the DJs are probably the people that will have the smallest issue getting over this period, whereas everyone else being in the same boat will face far bigger problems.

the scene will somehow survive, but it's gonna be a tough year this bloody 2020!
Amen

I truly hope biden wins the election. not a fan of him as a person, but at this stage, pretty much anything is better than trump IMO.

what state do you live in if you don't mind me asking?

As much as Trump is a f**king balloon, Biden isn't fit to be President. He can barely remember what he is talking about during interviews. I can't believe after putting Clinton up against him they couldn't find someone better than Biden

Agree mate. Can't believe a country the size of America can only offer up Biden to challenge trump?! Unbelievable really. Is their no one under the age of 70 able to take this on? Not being agist by the way

I'm just starting to hate our (dutch) media. They headlines of today are:
'TEENAGER DIED OF CORONA'.
But if you read the article it says...it's a grown up (so 18 or 19 years old) who had severe underlying suffering.

So yeah it's terrible. My heart goes out to the family. But the media has to stop this. Healthy teenagers don't die of corona. In the end of this all there will be near to zero percentage of healthy young people who have died form this virus. The amount of people hospitalized are rapidly declining and so is the death toll say the numbers in the Netherlands. And there is more and more discussion about ending the semi-lockdown asap for people under 65 so the economy can get back up and running again. Im still convinced we are now in a phase where the measures could be soon doing more harm than good.

I know you will never change your mind on all of this, but actual qualified medical experts in the UK say about 5% of deaths had no underlying health conditions.

Could you PLEASE stop posting uninformed garbage please?

Nope. Im just stating facts people.
What I just said is true or will turn out to be true: a very low, probably close to zero percentage of healthy young people will die from corona.
The media should stop scaring us.

Again, im not saying we should do nothing at all.

You're NOT stating facts, you're stating an opinion. Otherwise healthy teenagers and people in their 20's have died so you're wrong

Already happened!!
I've seen one or two cases indeed.
But all the other cases I've seen...it turned out they had yet unknown underlying suffering after all.
Doesn't make it less sad. But im really sick and tired of the media worldwide trying to scare everyone with these headlines.
They have no integrity at all and they've shown that more than ever during this crisis.
