The problem is, if you don't scare the public, there is - unfortunately - a vast number of people who will simply get bored of the situation and not care anymore about social distancing. "This has been going on for weeks now, I haven't got anything, can't be that bad..."Not saying we've seen this before, but I think it's not necessary we get the images from the IC's on tv, socials and now even here in the forum. Healthcare workers will always want to save that patient before them, that's what they've signed up for and it's admirable. I agree they should be respected for that and valued way better. But it should not be used to scare the public.
And I'm not saying the media should blow this completely out of proportion, but a healthy dose of constant reality checking to keep the people on edge just a little bit might go a long way in saving a lot of lives.
Unfortunately, most of us nowadays are just wired that way. And I'm including myself in that category by the way (social media and the news cycle are to blame mostly).
