Germany easing restrictions -

Public mass events banned until End of August
Vast majority of retailers to open again Monday
Masks recommended in public space
Schools to start opening again in stages from May 4, presumably with the older classes resuming first

Be interesting to see how this goes.
Thanks - any news of bars/restaurants?

I'm a ferry fan.
I understand that for the North European is complicated, but I like to have my own car, I love the arriving by boat in the sunrise.
It's less stressful than the airport, I like the slow motion travel, more eco-friendly...
And I can bring my wine with me??
But for me it's easy, I leave the house at 1pm and the day after I'm in Portinatx at 7am.
Of all the pros and cons regarding flying vs. car-train-ferry I think you may have nailed it in one there bud.

Mind you, the thought of a top-deck train seat for 10 hours watching the fields of France and Spain flash by, in the company of said vino is on my bucket list.

I guess that's because most countries simply aren't yet where they wanna be before they announce timelines. once you give a date, there's no way back, the people would start to revolt I think
I'm thinking they don't have to give an actual date - just a time plan...ie they say OK, when it's appropriate, days 1 - 7 we will open up more shops, allow restricted access to pubs/restaurants etc... 7 - 14 open nurseries and infant schools....and so on.
Then they can say a week in advance "Right, May the DD'th will be "day one" so pubs, shops, whatever has notice to get ready - to get stock in, to remove old stock that's past sell-by dates.
And to thoroughly disinfect (although the virus shouldn't be able lo last that long in a closed premises?)
People could also start to book UK hotels for breaks giving them some much-needed early finance.

I understand, but even so, I think they just wanna play it safe and rather not announce anything too early. also because I'm 100% sure every country will be watching the other to see how their plans/measures work out or fail. and because of that rather only ever drip-feed info to their citizens.

Bars , Clubs and so on closed until 31.8
They only spoke about "big events" being prohibited until 31.8, not bars and clubs in general.

My optimistic guess is that they will allow some restaurants and bars to reopen in May when the weather gets warmer and people can sit outside, thus reducing the danger of infection.

But clubs are very tricky, since we almost don't have open air clubs in Germany, and clubs with a roof are known to favor spreading of the virus :(

Exactly... No plan or deadline because no one knows right now and also trying to see what best for everyone

Spain has surpassed Italy now with cases so Spain are being super cautious

I think Spain are doing the right thing, maybe extending till 10 may then see what happens

Economy is f***ed anyway right now so might as well just stick it out be on lockdown for as long as it takes for things to stabilize and get a bit better
