Carl Cox reveals plan to build a new Space Ibiza

Loved Space but I'd make a few tweaks because I can see it being just another poser club, with the filming problems, folk being there just for the sake of it etc

Ban filming on phones/cameras

Realistic drink prices

7am starts on Sundays so you can follow on from the night before

4pm starts every day (with open air terrace open) other than Sundays till 6am

Will think of more later when i'm a little less busy

Unfortunately unless something drastic changes I would say you are dreaming on most of the above @Nostalgic.

The only things I do see being possible is the occasional 4PM start and the phone/camera ban. I know Dave, in particular, has been a bit advocator of that in the past so lets see if even that comes into fruition.

Yeah I understand about the license problems etc but surley money talks?

Oh yeah, no VIP!

if it was money that made the difference, space would never have had to change its opening hours.

it's sad but I also can't see 7am openings happen anytime soon.

Best news I've heard in a while. I really do think this is what the Ibiza clubbing scene needs. It has lost some of its magic over the last few years.

Any predictions or rumors on where it will be built?

Ban filming on phones/cameras

Unless you have a dedicated team going round smacking people which do so, how would you implement this?

Realistic drink prices

Never going to happen!

7am starts on Sundays so you can follow on from the night before

Unlikely with the currently laws in place

Guys, reality check here, Space is gone and it will never come back!
I am all for having something good around again but to be honest, it won't be happening for a while, at least not with the current trends and this new breed of clubbers unless they will be so strict with their door policies and be very selective with their clientele which on a business point of view would be a disaster as they won't meet their costs, not denying Cox has a genuine passion for music and the true spirit of the island blah, blah ... but I don't think it would do this if he didn't see some financial returns.

Either ban phones/cameras entering the building. Or use a similar system like Berghain where a sticker is put on, of course You can take it off but as soon as you do and put your device in the air to film, a bouncer comes over and says no filming and escorts you out. (If I was owner thats what I would tell security to do)

Never been to Berghain myself, but how many clips do you see of people filming in the club itself? I haven't seen any so something works.

But for the drink prices it is achievable, why wouldn't it be? Yes money this money that etc but come on set an example of fair prices.

€4 for beer

€3 a shot

€6 for a mixer

€2.50 for water

All the rest - its the hope that kills you, but in most cases dreams are better than reality

if dc10 can do it, why wouldn't any other venue be able to do so?

Sorry my bad, I didn't think of DC10 but more about all other clubs.

err. it's certainly not coming back in the same place it was, but as for never coming back...never say never.

Of course Space can come back, as a brand you can take it anywhere, it's already happening all around the world with Space events in many cities but let's be honest here, whoever has been to any of these events, did it come out saying or feeling that was the same as Space Ibiza? I didn't.
I feel very lucky to have experienced Space in all its forms, from the days of daytime parties with the terrace open and then covered, the days of evening parties only all the way to the very final one.
What made Space so unique was everything about it, the venue, its location, been able to pop out to Bora Bora for a "break" and come back for another session, the feeling of sharing something really special with the people buzzing around PDB on the days of opening/closing! Of course its great parties and quality music (OK, some maybe a bit less great than others ) and I think all this will be a very hard act to follow and recreate somewhere else only because the building is named Space, it might happen but it will take a long time before it will establish itself so everyone hoping that opening a new venue with Space as a name will bring back all of the above like magic has been very optimistic but of course it doesn't do any harm to have a little dream.

I would love to see them build a new club on a cliff somewhere, away from neighbors, overlooking the sea.

Make it similar to DC10, where you can start with some open air dancing. The indoor space could be a mix between Amnesia terrace and Vista.

Put stickers on cameras.

Drink price policy like DC10.

Honestly, you can copy many Berlin style clubs. I hope someone on the team is German or from Berlin.

I gather since Carl Cox always gives it the big one about Ibiza being too expensive now and drawing in the wrong crowd that he will sort a decent project all about good music and affordable ticket and drink prices? I doubt it somehow, he’s jus mad for the cash like the rest of em, says the right things to make people think he’s all about the music then reaps the benefits €€€€

Nah, I think Cox is the real deal.

certainly coxy wants to make money - everyone does. but at the same time he does see the issues the island is fighting with and we are discussing so much on here.

to me, the guys involved do have the 'right' idea about it I believe. I know dave browning pretty well, juan arenas also, and esp dave is very much aware of the issue with prices for both ticket and drinks and that too many phones on the dancefloor are ruining the atmosphere for many. they did consider a phone ban for their third 1NS at dc10 but in the end simply tried it the mellow way with their messages.

let's also keep in mind space was the last of the big venues to add vip zones and this really only happened through pressure from client side - all other clubs had it so there was demand. I think now we are at a point where you could stand tall and say 'look, this is what we want to achieve, this is our goal/idea, in our place everyone should be the same, there is no vip...

maybe it's just wishful thinking from my side but with the guys involved, I do have a little hope :)

I actually agree with you on this one. I personally don't have anything against Carl Cox . I've seen him playing at different events and have been to his Revolution at Space numerous times, some of these have been a total blinder some a bit less but in general I enjoy what he does . Sometimes though, I can't help to think about that his success and status in Ibiza has gone a bit over his head.
I know he has been a very instrumental part in the Space success during all those years and it's not a secret he has a great relationship and friendship with Pepe Rosello but the way I see it is that, no DJ is bigger than a club or even better, no DJ is bigger than Ibiza!
The adulation towards CC makes me feel that he and perhaps his people don't see it that way . That was proved to me especially during the very last party at Space, at least in the Discotecavwhere at times, it felt like it was a Carl Cox tribute and not the celebration of the best club in the world with the constant projection of his head over the stage which was sadly the very last image shown on the final curtain call when it should have been the Space logo, I know it's a silly observation but I hope you can get where I'm coming from with this .

i agree with alot of comments posted about the new space venture. Sadly the space I fondly remember was long gone when it actually closed for good. The old terrace had many magical moments especially during the day was torn down. The DJ’s played vinyl and the majority of pictures taken were by the official photographer which you could purchase. If the right people get this right then hopefully we might see something like this..sadly though i doubt it as things have moved on

I think they should leave it alone....I loved space but it won't be the same! On FB people are saying that it wont actually be a new space club it will just be space club nights at different clubs on the island...I think another big club would be too much
