#Brexit

And what makes you think life in the EU will be better? Italy is nearly bankrupt, Spain, Greece, Portugal to name a few are countries with low wages and very little work.

If Germany pulls out in the future, the EU is over, no more endless streams of money for those countries who constantly take out rather than put in.

I'd rather continue with the way things are. I think it's going to be a race to the bottom post-Brexit. I can see us having to accept some pretty rotten things when we're desperate for business. No wonder Trump is rubbing his hands with glee. All the Tories care about is money to them and their rich pals. Workers' rights and the environment will be put on the bonfire.

Push through what 17.4 million people voted for.
Yes true, but what they got told why it is a good idea isn't the reality of what's going to happen. Just because we disagree shouldn't blind us from what the real agendas are. Those with the money and power removing/reducing the obstacles for them keeping growing that power/wealth.

There is an interesting graph that tracks brexit/anti EU sentiment visiblity. Pretty much nothing pre end of 2015. Then it grows a hell of a lot. Exactly at same time the anti tax/fraud laws are proposed by EU. ?‍♂️

End of the day, what happens happens. I've almost paid off my mortgage and with my skillset could work any where in world quite easily. If anything I personally will be better off under the tories.

My real concern is for how its gonna affect most of the other 95%, including you too!

Have to wait and see. I’m just thankful labour never got in, otherwise most of the UK would be unemployed and those in work would have been taxed to the limit.

I’ll leave this conversation for now, it’s been interesting ?

(This is a bit of a long rant below, and bit of a theory of everything for me. I hope that what I write brings some perspective that allows forum members to overlook differences with their fellow countrymen. After this, I will be back to posting bum pics.)

No dog in this fight. You could almost have this exact same discussion in the US right now, by simply changing names and it would still be coherent. If you are not aware, know that most of the 1st world is having the same convulsions simultaneously. This is of little comfort to anyone emotionally invested in politics but stepping back and looking at the larger picture might take the edge off.

The problem is structural. The politics that most are arguing over are the icing on the cake, while the problems causing political divisions had more to do with the actual cake itself. The solution is not political, it’s a matter of math and physics.

The entire world economy has been based on systems that have run their course. For 70 years promises have been made and now we are finding that those promises were based on faulty assumptions. All promises were predicated on growth of economies and populations. As populations in the west began to grow below replacement rate standards of living began to stagnate. The initial reaction was more emphasis put on economic growth. Despite the futuristic levels of technology that we carry around in our pockets, the last 20 years or so have had no impact on productivity. Debt was created to paper over the difference, work was outsourced to cheaper countries, and (il)legal immigration found a home for domestic labor that was too expensive to be done by conventional means providing an acceptable standard of living.

The specific response in each country will vary due to scale, culture and history, but most will become more local, fragmented and/or nationalistic as they attempt to preserve a standard of living for their constituencies. As per my example this is like arguing over the flavor of icing on the cake when there are no eggs or baking powder. Everyone globally is having this same conversation at the same moment, which should tell you something.

I have my opinions on where all this is going, but I would rather discuss over hierbas and thongs…

Probably nothing good as people become more insular and alliances break down, and just as climate change is likely to mean more wars over resources and the best spots to pitch your tent...

They will let anyone in nowadays, even more so now we are leaving.

Just the small matter of how will you be plugging the gap of what Westminster give you each year whilst your GDP spending is 14% per head more than the rest of UK while your deficit is 7%, not forgetting still wanting to use the £ after you leave.

Most Scots are intelligent enough to be in favour of the Union anyway so you are clutching at straws at wanting to leave. Not forgetting the embarrassment if you was to lose the leave vote again

You might find many Scots (like me) have changed their mind since the last time. The vast majority of us didn't vote for Brexit or a far right Tory government. I wouldn't be embarrassed if we lost the vote. The only reason unionists are so scared of another indie ref is that there's a better chance that a yes will be returned.
