So you want another vote because you were t happy with the results of the first one.
This sounds familiar.
I tell you what would be fair, give us in the rest of the UK a vote on whether we want to keep Scotland in the UK.
I like Scotland and the people but I hate the SNP and their Anti-Britishness.
Playing devils advocate, the conservatives decided to hold 2 unscheduled general elections to try and get a majority to push through what they wanted.
I'm kinda like oh well whatever as I'm directly gonna be ok as have a high skilled job and thus leverage. (Well so long as nhs doesn't go insurance based). Indirectly I think in a few years a lot more people are going to be hurting more than they are now.
Already talk of pensioners liquidating part of their property value to pay for care. Which is "ok" if you own property. We currently looking for care places and fully funded council one is unobtainium, partly funded so-so, but if have extra needs (mental/physical health) you are looking at around £500 per week!
There are lazy shits at the bottom end who need kick up the ass, just there are at the top who reduce their tax burden on hundreds of millions of pounds. Labour should have put that amount on side of a bus. Makes what the bottom end get tiny in comparison. (Btw pension and care are a huge part of social welfare budget)
I completely get why people voted the way they did and while not agree with them due to the consequences I see coming am not gonna call them dickhead wankers lol. Do feel the majority will end up owning nothing (inc public services) and paying for everything.
As for taxation, yes, those on 80k+ should pay more. Firstly remember it's not higher tax on the whole lot but the amount
over 80k. Secondly, tax isn't about getting out what you put in, otherwise it would be pointless, but about putting a proportion back into society that you got out - so that society keeps functioning well so that you can keep getting large sums out. I'm not on 80k+ but above national avg of ~23k and am fine with paying five or whatever a week more if things worked better.
Think of it this way:
* lowest unemployment for ~50yrs
*austerity for ~10yrs, services cut to the bone/breaking point
*uk still having to borrow money most months
*uk debt in same period gone from ~600 billion to ~2,200 billion
And now important point...
6th largest economy in the world
So if "everyone" working, public spending massively cut and yet still borrowing on country credit card, where the f*** is all this wealth going?
Or more importantly without some kind of rebalance how long before public services are completely useless or country goes bankrupt (or at least borrowing costs/debt goes mental)
If you think you are rich and gonna be ok under the new direction, but have a mortgage, think again, you ain't the rich at the top. Also remember Jacob mogg has said on record he would effectively like more of a feudal system (elite ruling class, rest do as told).
Fact they have removed legally binding text for worker rights, env protection parity with EU is worrying. Businesses will race to the bottom for most, they'll have no choice as if one competitor does it and lowers costs, they have to match. Exceptions would be high skilled areas.
I'll be ok like said, but people I know who work hard but unskilled are already suffering : can't get a pay raise, company says no sorry, as effectively a massive pool of people to keep wages low. These are people on £16-18k a year need public services to be decent and free at point of use.
You can't up skill everyone as you'd be back with sane problem, lots peeps who can do same job. Nor can everyone be a millionaire, how much do you think a loaf of bread would cost if was the case?
25% of business leaders in US where shown to be psychopaths in a study. Not axe murderers, but don't have empathy. Think of it as a neurological disorder. So instead of trying to appeal to them saying things are unfair or peeps suffering etc, need to make a "business case" instead. Simply put, your billions are worthless if society fails. (Hint, try making a 10p biro pen from scratch, then see how immensely important civilisation and functional society is for us
all)
The move to more authoritarian governments and the masses against each other is a sign imho they know shit gonna hit fan in coming few decades and want the right levers to stamp out trouble from the plebs (from Latin- the great unwashed)
Good read on actual wealth distribution:
If you combine every human's wealth together, you get $241 trillion. Let's see what that number looks like in cash, gold, potatoes, pizza, and tortoises.
