Apparently....

all of it, the courting, the dining, the shagging, all of it is massively overrated - maybe 1% of all people are sexual athletes, everybody else is hopeless and doesn't have a clue - the number of times I've been in bed with someone and thought wtf am I doing here, I'd rather just watch emmerdale farm or eat a takeaway.

:eek::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Dating can be fun and traumatic.

My first date was with a girl in my neighborhood. We went to a movie and afterward was heading to McDonald's. Just before we got there a seagull shat on her jacket. She was embarrassed and I had to go in and get wet paper towels to clean her up. We have a laugh about it still today.

that sounds like an incredibly romantic moment that you would both reminisce about into your 80s

What's worse is thinking how to get rid of them.

You can't look for a life partner.

Surely any idiot knows this.

You can however look for casual/meaningless sex.

So which is it, are people being honest about this or just plain deluded?

...

Interesting insight there Olly.

Most gayers profess to be sexual athletes (and to be fair many of them are ) - but they do have a habit of prescribing an experience before it's even happened.

"Wat u in2 m8?"

"Top/bottom?"

Hideous.

(I sometimes feel like a freak being the only one without a meticulous plan.)

...

Romance and spontenaity is DEAD*.

It is a long time since i went on a proper date, I dont think they really exist anymore, because of fb etc you tend to know alot about people really quickly so takes alot of the fun out of getting to know someone. :)

Very true - once you have looked through all their photo albums

I met my soulmate on plenty of fish... When your approaching 40 as we both are clubbing , drinking and general socialising combined with a diminishing circle of friends this site and others like it are not a bad option ( whatever your lookin for ;);) ). I was dead set against the internet dating age but i was bascially talked into it and saw nothing more than a bit banter, i certainly didn't expect this to happen but im glad i did and am loving every minute.. 18 months later were planning our 2nd ibiza trip amongst lots of others things so in short.... the wheat is always seperable from the chaff... 8)

That is some sexual marathon you've been taking part in Olly.. Emmerdale Farm hasn't been called that for years

interesting reading some of these comments. based on my recent experiences i feel like women are even more single minded when it comes to sex then men are.

i hooked up with an american girl who goes to my uni a few times but then found out i can count myself among at least 100 others. she's also been known to take on entire american football teams (perhaps an exaggeration but at least 4 seriously big black guys).

so that was enough to put me off her. have been hooking up with her bestie (also american) since january and it's also evident that she has been around but (so she claims) to a much lesser degree. nevertheless it's just about sex for her even if we're friends and care about eachother. i still find infinitely more attached to her than she is to me... i thought it was supposed to be the other way around?

you have to remember that this man probably has limited knowledge of anything (beyond the price of a box of kleenex) and so his opinions should really be ignored.

but what if he was right? what if your favourite holiday destination was an orgy of sin and nubile princesses colonised the island each summer?

as far as I'm concerned, a sexual free-for-all is surely the highest possible state of utopia for all concerned - something to celebrate not condemn

it really is nothing to be ashamed of and fearing other people's perceptions of your nocturnal behaviour is surely a precursor for a repressed and unhappy sex life.

this post is immense.

good specifics on the tea type.

i couldn't do all that internet dating. if someone asked me where i met my girlfriend and i had to say 'on the internet', i'd want to end it all.

I see your point fella and i was the same but then again it can't be knocked until tried.... afterall wouldn't be better to meet someone that you have already established a bit of common ground with or is better to be swinging of the end of a bar feckin hammered ready to shag anything with a pulse??? I remember the days when everyone said 'i'll never use a mobile phone'.... times are changing..
