contrary to all the confusing rumours circulating during the last months (according to which the club would not continue this summer due to lots of debts, etc etc etc), seems like penelope will carry on with mostly the same parties than last summer but with different management..........
the confusion lasted till very recently..... someone who spoke with george morel (groove on) in miami recently told me that he wasnt getting any reply from the club, which give us an idea about how was the situation. so not only they didnt do the announced reforms in the club (even the guys from gorgeous added on their website "preparing the 2006 summer production at Ibiza, at the Penélope Discotheque, which is expected to be expanded this year") but also nobody knew if it will carry on or not. the other day someone told me that the neighbours denounced the club once again for not having the right licenses..... fantastic, more problems. seems like things are clear now though..... a veryveryvery well-informed little bird tells me that the management had lots of problems with the owner so they stopped all negotiations and already announced to the promoters during the last days that the club WILL NOT open. RIP!! :(

another two places in la marina that disappear.....

 after 60 years open (5 less than formentera, soon to be a pizza hut) the restaurant victoria has closed its doors too and will turn into a jewelry. so now theres only 3 eateries that old in the area: can costa, san juan and can rafal :!:

gutted :( missed to pay penelope a visit last year and definitely wanted to go there at least once this year!

Sad news indeed... I was looking forward to giving it another try this year. Plus, it's nice to have a young upstart to keep the old clubs on their toes. :(

back to san antonio..........

 very random but..... ..... bar m got rid of some trees in the patio to gain space for more tables :!:

 apparently the bar liquor lounge in the west end (between jamel's bistro and delilah's) will turn into an irish bar :!:

 the restaurant el yate at the end of the port, after a long time for sale, seems like it has new owners because its getting a complete facelift :!:

add to all the san antonio stuff mentioned in this thread so far other places doing big reforms (amsterdam for example is doing some structural changes), new places to check out (for example the nice looking restaurant cebo at the beginning of the bay, behind s'embarcador or the new thing next to boulevard which looks like an extended terrace but it could be also a brand new bar), all the works on various streets in the centre of the town plus, of course, all the works planned for next winter (for example the new promenade from the paseo maritimo till cala gracio) and you will see that the title of that article, san antonio - the regeneration, wasnt exaggerated at all..... all in all, it looks like being an interesting summer for san antonio!! :D

i can't believe that marquee next to boulevard. it's bigger than the one the three ring circus had opposite lidl last week!

and so sad that the victoria will be no more, i've had many a fine meal there. still, i-town is badly short of jewellers..........

 the striptease bar gorms garage in the west end (renamed temptation this summer) is already doing building works. apparently the legendary bar, opened in the 70s by pepe roselló from space who still owns it nowadays (and known back then as el refugio, a restaurant with bands playing live), will be a space bar!! :o

Have it on good authority that it will remain as Gorms garage this summer and continue as a strip bar. Several new 'private rooms' have been installed upstairs.

Also, Mr. Toffs may not be open this Summer due to "legal difficulties".
