why is everybody so anti westend

how far away is san an from ibiza town..... im staying in the town and i like the sound of cheaper drinks so can you get there easily and cheaply or is it not worth the hastle for the drink alone.....how much cheaper is cheap????

cheers

You can't walk it. It's about 15 minutes on the bus, as basically they are the other side of the island.

The drinks are an awful lot cheaper though.

well i wouldnt walk it honestly, the roads are way too dangerous. The bus is approx 20 minutes and o.k reliable.....san an in a cab costs 13-15 euros if you wanna go!

i used to like it. it still has one or twon good bars. but now your either out number by drunks, lokkie lookie men or flyer people fighting over you. o and the police watching your every step.

sorry up until this year i would have shout the westends praise but not any more... needs a clean up adn all the scum shipped out. so it can go back to the way it was.

My thoughts entirely... Just came back from 2 weeks and everyone working there said the same thing..

opppppsssssss.
plus also alot of the bars in the west end this year are expensive and I found some bars in ibiza town cheaper.....

The gov out there want to totally change ibizas image.
If you remember 4 yrs ago in Ayai Napa the government over there said they didnt want another san an over there so they nipped it in the bud big time....

Lookie lookie men are by comparison to other years non-existent and the police are always onto them....

They are totally San An up quite abit....be see some beer boys getting a stern warning about noise in our hotel and that sorted them out ;) ...

Have to say that I walked past the west end on the way back from coastline and was greeted by oy oy get your tits out for the lads.
This never happend anywhere else in San an or in Ibiza town. Guys try and chat you up e.t.c which is fine but i can't stand going out and having all that crap to deal with. It wasn't even that busy around there so i can't imagine what it would be like in peak season.
It would be nice to see the image cleaned up around that area as the rest of san an is pretty good.

Well I've tried it with an open mind, but found it putrid. So tacky and utterly devoid of class. If it's exactly what you enjoy, good on you, but I'll never bother with it again.

Can I just give my opinion.

I think some people enjoy a night out in the style of the west end, ie getting cheap drinks, lots of like minded boys and girls, and by 3 or 4am everyone is really pissed and being sick, fighting, etc. This kind of thing goes on in every city centre in the UK. It certainly goes on in Belfast. Also the west end is like the centre of most other holiday resorts on Spain, Greece, Cyprus etc.

The thing that makes Ibiza different from these places are the clubs, DJ's and the people that come to the island. Each to their own, but i think that its pretty stuck up for people to say that its not 'classy' and stuff like that, as its just a lot of bars, cheap drink, and small clubs for young people on holiday to have a drink and a laugh.

I myself will go to the westend, not to fight, but yes, to get ludicrously drunk and have fun. I will also go to the clubs, the reason i am going back to ibiza over anywhere else.

I found parts of the west end scummy bad but have many a good night out there over the years that meant I will always go back and give it a chance...this year???.

Well some tart grabbed my nuts in front of my missus which obviously pissed her off big time then some little dork threw something at me as I walked past. He was obviously trying to "give it the biggun" in front of his girl and mates 'till I grabbed ahold of him and his dippy little ego shrunk

Can't really totally condemn the west end as it holds some good memories for me from years gone by BUT after this year I will try staying at the other side of the island.

where exactly was it that the tart grabbed your nuts - i'd like to avoid that area tonight when i'm on patrol!

I agree, but can i raise another important point: -

We Ibiza 'veterans' get sick of people's response when you tell them your going to Ibiza and its San An/West End that give people the tacky image people have of Ibiza.

If people want that sort of holiday why don't they just go somewhere else like Falaraki.

Wouldn't it be nice if Ibiza had the reputation it deserves instead of the crap they show on Ibiza Uncovered.

I always tell people we're going to 'Ibiza Town' and they usually go 'oh, yeah thats the nice part'

:!:

That was in koppas at the start of the west end...They are slowly trying to change the west end but i'll never stay that side again for a long while...
We spent quite abit of time of the town and never had to put up with all that shite.

I never really had probs before with san an quite simply because I never had a bad experience.

But after this year with all the moroccons and beer boys and nearly getting into a fight I will go south side. I had to take allocation on arrival so thats what I got.

Still loadsa good times tho on other parts of the island. But its only when u venture out of san an u feel like ure in ibiza

Agreed Drew....i always sigh to myself when people ask where you are going and you say: Ibiza......the instant reaction is always a look of shock and surprise (because you know that they think its all JUST like Ibiza Uncovered).

Once you have gone through the rigamorole of explaining that Ibiza is actually a beautiful classy place with tonnes of culture, history, arts and entertainment they get the picture.....but its a shame that a great Ibizan holiday is tarred by the San Antonio brush.

Just got to get on with it though haven't you! ;)

My view on it is, what's the point in going all the way to Ibiza and going down the West End, its no different to the Bigg Market in Newcastle (where I live).

That is soo true, The West end is the Bigg market with better weather, Everybody has there own opinion of the place and people go there cos they want to they dont have to go!

I know myself that I like both the west end and I also like the sunset stip for different reasons but it is all part of the IBIZA experience is it not!!! :D

no matter how you twist and turn it San An will always have the best to offer, sunsetwise - nothing beats the sangria and chillout music coming from the 3 major cafés on the strip, whilst watching the sun descend -ahhhhh sigh!!!

the west end isn't that bad!!!!

i doubt i'll be attending it this eyar cos i'm only there for a week and so i'll be cramming as much clubbing as humanly possible but when you go for two weeks you can't really go clubbign every night so it offers you somethign different, where you can go have a good drink and a good laugh with the people you've gone away with!!!!

thats the way i see it anyway

No way, give me a sunset at Kuhmaras any day of the wk, in the last 3 or 4 years have gone right off Mambos et al, too many dicks, too crowded, too commercialised. I remember going in 2000, granted it was August, but it almost felt like extension of West End.
