Who wants Kids?

there was only 2 things that put me off having kids - the noise and the smell.

and 7 years of teaching the brats has only confirmed this even more. i hate them.

Definitely not, I haven't got a maternal bone in my body, me and Tom are going to have pups instead of babies.

Yay totally Leese, it's all about me me me, no time for any of this kids malarky

Don't get me wrong .. I love my girls and wouldnt swop them for the world .. NOW !

The only reason friends who already have children say: "They are wonderful .. best thing ever ..." and never tell you the REAL story, is ....... they want to see YOU suffer too !! :D

A question to all those that don't .......

Does it not bother you that your blood line will end with you?

OK, your siblings are there to continue the family blood line, but even so it's quite scary to think that everything about you will end.

To me it's quite a comforting feeling that by having kids, your spirit could kind of continue after you die by having kids. Kind of gives your life a little meaning in a way.

Or am i just talking shit?

:?

For me, that I support a Yes, that doesn't really matter, to be honest.
I think my spirit could continue after I die by people who loved me, not only my kids ;)

2 of my best friends just had their first and to be honest i'm dead jealous. never really thought not having kids would bother me that much but as time goes on i'm getting more and more broody!

i'll just have to deal with that tho, cos I wouldn't even consider it.

It doesnt bother me at all, my sister is having a baby so she can do all the hard work

Like Silv said your spirit will still go on through other things IMO.

I'm not a maternal type at all. I get nervous holding babies and I never really know what to say to young kids. On the other hand, I had a really nice childhood and me, my sis and my parents used to have alot of fun, and it would seem a pity to miss out on that. Also when you are older hopefully your kids would take care of you. My grandparents get loads of help from their 4 grown-up kids. Macdonsj loves kids and is good with them so I wouldn't deny him a family. I'd like to wait at least 3 years though but if we couldn't have kids I don't think I would be too upset.

I'm the opposite of most people, when I was in my early 20's I really wanted children but as I've got older (just hit 30 last year) I've went off the idea more and more (which is probably just as well as theres very little chance of me having any ;) )

Is that a good reason to bring someone into this world, just to continue your bloodline :?: .
I have had this conversation many times and it keeps coming back to what I think are selfish reasons. I personally think (at the moment & I reserve the right to change my mind) ;) that the world isnt going to be a particularily easy or nice place to live in 50 - 100 years and that has to be taken into account when making such important decisions

Totally agree on here, when the conversation about this subject arrives at my place is one point to consider ;)

That wasn't what i was suggesting at all.

I was just wondering whether anyone else considered this important. Obviously, it's not an issue with most people which i find a little surprising.

Shall we discuss this again in another 5 years to see if anyone's opinions have changed?
