Those are single day data points and it’s far better to calculate over at least a seven day period. It’s quite difficult though to find the data but seems to have gone above 100 infections in the Balearics on at least one day this week. That seems very high and no wonder the UK gov has taken the action it did.
 
numbers have indeed gone up quite a bit last week - mainly over on mallorca, but not exclusively. tomorrow when we get an updated recount I shall post it in the ibiza coronavirus updates thread

I might not agree to a lot of what he says, but...in this case he has a point.

in my opinion it all goes back to when they started prohibiting the after hours here on the island which resulted in villa parties becoming the next big thing. I mean, they always existed, but up until 2007 there were a few per year and that was it - it never was a big issue.

when space had to shut during the day, that's when villa parties started popping up left, right and centre. and as much as I love a good villa sesh, I understand that they can actually be a nuisance. and I think this is what the interviewee is referring to. I've voiced my opinion on this various times in the past, IMO the decision to stop official afters in the end was a disservice to the locals and could have been solved much better.
 
I am all for central after hour places (like space used to be) instead of villa parties, too. I just have a feeling that pedro matutes might have a problem with that as well.

it weren't the hotel owners that were against space so I'm not so sure about that
