What's going to happen to SPACE after 2016?

Something I just remember is that I always used to wear jeans, even on those boiling hot afternoons. I just couldn't get my head around wearing shorts to a 'nightclub' even in the day.
Ha ha. Back in the day I would never have dreamed of wearing shorts out... I remember a couple of my mates joining up with us mid holiday and coming out in shorts. I was disgusted.

Forward on 17 years and I'm now like 'why would you wear jeans?' :)

Haha I'm exactly the same, early 2000's I always wore jeans, wouldnt even dream of it now!

I bought that terrace photo online many, many years ago from one of the island sites. Back in the pre-camera phone days, the photographers came round the club taking pics and gave you the card with the reference etc. In amongst the terrifyingly graphic images of international clubbers completely off their boats at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon was this stunning snapshot of the terrace in full swing. Stopped me in my tracks. Very difficult to put that terrace into words from back then, but that pic takes you at least part of the way into beginning to describing the vibe.

So the latest is that Pepe is taking over Reco des Sol in San An and turning it into an Ushuaia/Destino/Ocean Beach type venue? And apparently he doesn't own the Space name so it won't be Space.......if he doesn't own the name, who does?

Yeah, so special. I've had some amazing time in Ibiza after all that, but nothing will ever match Sunday afternoon on terrace. Life-changing. I'm glad there weren't camera phones everywhere, but I do wish I had a couple of photos from one of those afternoons.
exactly this.

Thats not the terrace I remember. What year was this picture taken. 1995/96 was the last time I went it still had those wicker furniture and bamboo fence all around. .

From reading that, this change is going to be nothing but 110% grimness!!!!!!!! Zero positives can come from this (apart from the bank balances of certain people)...

Doesn't sound like he even thinks Pepe will be bothered to start again somewhere else either... Why would he though!??! He's 80yrs old!!

R.I.P.

Really don't see the point in relocating Space, because then it's not Space is it.

I also think EDM is on a downward spiral so it would be interesting to see what nights are on offer in 2017.

Can't help but feel Space will be taking on a rather different flavour if the Ushuaia guys are the helm.

Somehow, "We Love Sundays at Space with David Guetta" doesn't have the same appeal :confused::confused:

They are probably rebuilding the place anyways. It just wouldnt be the same since it needs to cater to their clientele.

Anyone think the new owners will hear the criticism and actually pull some surprises with a decent line up?

Can't say I do to be honest. They will simply programme it in a way that will make them the most money a la Ushuaia hotel.

At the moment, current trends suggest that will be big money, Vegas style EDM. Though, as another poster points out above, EDM is probably on the wane globally. What will replace it? Who knows. Will we get one/two underground nights a week? Perhaps.

As long as there are some decent nights on it will still be Space just with a different name....

I do fear the worst with Ushuaia getting involved though.....
