What music are you into?

liar

I imagine you would rather insert leeches into your cock than be subjected to Shania Twain for 6 hours at O'Neills on Wardour Street (I received counselling for weeks after visiting that place)

Actually no. I have a remix of Shania Twain - Its the way you love me.

I'm literally into everything, well, of course dance music is my preference, but, I've played everything. I've played Arabic folk music at gigs before, more than once, AND mixed it with modern dance beats and I'm not talking about, a pre-recorded or produced track, (Mauro Picotto - Arabian Pleasure sty;es) I mean, traditional Arabic + Dance, beat mixed and sounding off its tit, mixed as a Dj. Italian as well, (which admittedly was alot easier) Greek, Spanish, etc etc etc.

I've played rock, & heavy metal. I did years as a mobile Dj and the thing got me return trade was being able to play all these genres outside of dance music in a dance music format. EVERYONE partied together back then. Clubbers, rockers, oldies, young people, all on the same dance floor. Retro, Hip-Hop, RnB, all of it.

I just got a gig playing at the very first club I ever played at, and the first time I played Techno, this time I'm playing House, Retro & Trance. I can't wait :D

But yeah, I didn't expect so many replies. My FAVOURITE genres will always be House Techno and Trance. Of course, all of their derrivitives also, but if a stranger was to ask "what music do you like?" I'd say House, Techno and Trance.

Sooooo not true.

A real jazz musician plays everything that doesn't follow the 'populist' verse/chorus/verse/reprise/repeat/fade mass produced formula.

They are and always have been the true innovators.

Go and educate self immediately.

Hysteria used as an example of talent to trash jazz. That's hysterical.

ok ok - it was a question, not a statement - and one i did not make up myself!

and i'm not juxtaposing Hysteria with the genre! just saying its a good album.

however it does just confuse me.

I don't dispute that you might like more than one style of sound (who doesn't?) but you said you liked ANYTHING - which I object to. It's humanly IMPOSSIBLE to relate to ALL music - otherwise how do you set standards in your tastes, how do you then determine genius from mediocrity?

I know but I could've been here all day and night and was hoping to go home soon!;)

(Regarding football songs I didn't mean It's coming home, it's coming home, football is coming home or anything like that. Mean the awful abusive drunken songs like we'll be running round tottenham with our willies hanging out! That sort of childish look at me i'm singing a song about willies nonsense that you get down the pub with fat blokes in unfitting football shirts that reveal their tummies, you know the sort of bloke who hasn't been to a game since Birmingham away in 84! Helmets. However i heard you on New Order not sure about the 'you got to hold and give but do it at the right time' bit.)

Forgotten to mention King Tubby and Lee Scratch Perry too.

I like pretty much anything from full-on psy-trance to Mozart, tchaichovsky, Grieg, handel, Wagner, Green Day, The Clash etc, etc. The only music I can say I truly dislike is commercial Country & Western though I do really like some of the Cajun/Ho-down type of stuff (do a search for Jello Biafra and you'll get some idea). I wouldn't, however, ever dream of slagging someone of over their taste in music- it's the one thing that whilst may invoke many emotions, can control said emotions in so many countless ways.

Most house music but 'ard house is out of my league.

Despise most modern commerical conveyor belt pop music.

Top few bands; Beatles, Pink Floyd, Stone Roses, Beach Boys, Noo Order, Joy Division.

enjoy some classical stuff, would like to listen to more.

Noo Order, Joy Division.
Might have mentioned this before, but I went to the Russian premier of the documentary Joy Division on Monday night. Really interesting film... I knew the general story of the band (big New Order fan growing up) but the film filled in lots of details and had some pretty good interviews and footage.

I hate 'genres' :spank: I just like what I like which is kind of generally covered by the likes of:

DJwise Derrick Carter, Sneak, DJ Heather and all things boompety boomp, Jon Carter, Eric Prydz and all things Swedish, MAW, Danny Krivit, Jeff Mills, Miss Kittin, Danny Rampling, Danny Tenalgia, Francois K, Carl Craig, Derrick May, Kerri Chandler.....

Bandwise The Stone Roses, The Steets, The Jam, Pet Shop Boys, Take That, Primal Scream, The Doors, Missy Elliott, U2, Massive Attack, Happy Mondays, Joy Division, New Order....
