liar
I imagine you would rather insert leeches into your cock than be subjected to Shania Twain for 6 hours at O'Neills on Wardour Street (I received counselling for weeks after visiting that place)
Sooooo not true.
A real jazz musician plays everything that doesn't follow the 'populist' verse/chorus/verse/reprise/repeat/fade mass produced formula.
They are and always have been the true innovators.
Go and educate self immediately.
Hysteria used as an example of talent to trash jazz. That's hysterical.
To name a few, these days I am into the following:
M.A.N.D.Y, Green Velvet, Larry Levan, Loco Dice, Claude von Stroke, Carl Craig, DJ Pierre, Tania Vulcano, Bookashade, Harvey, Chicken Lips, Paul Takahashi, Force of Nature, Hercules and the Love Affair, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Jeno, DUBTRIBE, Garth, Matthew Dear, Francois K., Rub N Tug, Doc Martin, DUBTRIBE, Richie Hawtin, Tim Sweeney.
All of the above too!
Actually no. I have a remix of Shania Twain - Its the way you love me.
I'm literally into everything, well, of course dance music is my preference, but, I've played everything. I've played Arabic folk music at gigs before, more than once, AND mixed it with modern dance beats and I'm not talking about, a pre-recorded or produced track, (Mauro Picotto - Arabian Pleasure sty;es) I mean, traditional Arabic + Dance, beat mixed and sounding off its tit, mixed as a Dj. Italian as well, (which admittedly was alot easier) Greek, Spanish, etc etc etc.
I've played rock, & heavy metal. I did years as a mobile Dj and the thing got me return trade was being able to play all these genres outside of dance music in a dance music format. EVERYONE partied together back then. Clubbers, rockers, oldies, young people, all on the same dance floor. Retro, Hip-Hop, RnB, all of it.
I just got a gig playing at the very first club I ever played at, and the first time I played Techno, this time I'm playing House, Retro & Trance. I can't wait
But yeah, I didn't expect so many replies. My FAVOURITE genres will always be House Techno and Trance. Of course, all of their derrivitives also, but if a stranger was to ask "what music do you like?" I'd say House, Techno and Trance.
Gosh
Sinatra, Elvis, Oasis, Kid Creole and the coconuts, massive attack, r dean taylor, simple minds, rolf harris, Reverand and the makers, u2, all things house, rage against the machine, more house, motown, portishead, ABC, Yazoo, Super Furry Animals, Disco, more house, some drum n bass, acid house, stereophonics, nina simone, dean martin, the small faces, the kinks, amy winehouse(music not her), duffy, Kasabian, porno music, Hendrix, bit more house, neil diamond, anything that is on my ipod, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, norwiegan satanic sluts (or whatever it was called earlier in the thread don't know what it is but is sounds good to me), Earth Wind And Fire, Roxy Music, Specials, Loose Cannons, did I mention house or dance music in general?, football songs when slightly scuppered with the chaps when watching the match, the high numbers, the who, led zepplin, pink floyd. God far too many to mention, not Shania Twain though but I would if she would let me, Radiohead, Gorillaz, Underworld, Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Harlem Shuffle(the song not what teenagers from Harlem do in their spare time), Smiths, James, James Brown.
Oh **** it I give up.
Roll on the p1ss taking!

Never under stood jazz, the last refuge of the talentless musician?
phoenix - if ever I feel better
Might have mentioned this before, but I went to the Russian premier of the documentary Joy Division on Monday night. Really interesting film... I knew the general story of the band (big New Order fan growing up) but the film filled in lots of details and had some pretty good interviews and footage.Noo Order, Joy Division.
